Nvidia Shield TV Pro Revisited | One Year Later!

I decided to revisit the Nvidia Shield TV Pro after over one year of testing and using it for content consumption, gaming, emulation, and more. Here are my thoughts for it in 2021. Enjoy!

I already have the base model from a few years ago. The main reason I didn't upgrade was because it wasn't enough of a upgrade to spend full price on another unit. I don't know if they are bringing out a new model some time in the near future, but I'll be interested to see what it's capable of if they are currently working on one.

I bought an Nvidia Shield TV Pro last year and it's been a fun project building a library of games. Bought a Dualshock 4 and experimented with emulators...never looked back. Was a bit disappointed that Dolphin couldn't run all Wii/GC games and the PS2 emulator seemed unlikely. It wasn't until that I subscribed to Shadow PC. Now, I can play Slippi, PCSX2, any Steam game, PS Now games and Xbox Game Pass. The power of technology

I'm very happy with my Nvidia shield tv pro. I recommend Xbox controller bc it has a good rumble

Although I bought the Nvidia shield for retro gaming it still is likely the best streaming device other than a full blown computer which would cost far more money. It blows away the Roku ultra in speed and response.and watch TV programs from around the planet which you can't do on most other devices.

You can use a keyboard also.

I use the Logitech K830 illuminated keyboard with track pad for navigating the Shield.

You can either use the tiny USB dongle it came with or pair it via Bluetooth. Its perfect.

I could have bought the 2019 invidia shield but opted for the 2017 with the game controller. Very happy with it.

Super video, although I am a bit perplexed when it comes to these devices.
A quick question or two:
Set the stage: We are now paying $150 p/m for satellite TV service.
So we are considering the Shield TV Pro or just several Streaming services.
This is where I am confused:
My understanding is that the Shield comes with streaming services Apps already installed!!??
But my understanding also is even though the Apps are already installed, you STILL must pay a monthly fee for the installed streaming Apps!??
But I am also told that some of the streaming Apps are free, with NO monthly service fee!?
Could you clear this up for us?
