The damage of this glitched build does NOT benefit from the Explosives stat since the weapon(Detonator) itself is considered as an "Energy" weapon.
Also, note that perks such as "Demolition Expert" does not benefit the damage at all. Using the High Explosive rounds that be bought from the Gun Runners or in the DLC will boost the damage by 35%.
The detonator itself is considered as a quest item and cannot be taken away. Useful in casinos.

And this glitch also works on every ammo type with every single weapon in the game. Even with melee. It is a bit wonky on it though. For example, you can transfer the mini nuke inherent damage multiplier into the glove, but not the explosion itself. Animation also slightly breaks. Some projectiles and ammunition also have different properties. You can load your Fatman with 5mm bullets and fire nukes as if you have normal mini nukes for the fatman. But if you load a rocket/missile/mini muke/nail/any other unique projectile into the weapon(that does not usually fire unique projectiles, aka most of the bullet/energy weapons) through this glitch, the glitched weapon will fire mini nukes/rockets/missiles with damage altered by the inherent projectile multiplier.
Some properties of the ammo are also transferred to the weapon. If you load shotgun shells into your missile launcher, you will fire cluster rockets, depending on the shotgun ammo pellet count. Transferred effects also include burning/emp/poison/explosive or any other bonus which is listed as "added" on the chosen ammo type.
Thrown weapons also get the same treatment as above. You can get yourself 1000 frag grenades with 5mm ammo trick. Or throw missiles/mini nukes instead of grenades.
Also, your game crashes if you try using hotkey swap for ammo when you have this glitch working.

The thing I love about New Vegas is; if you don't cheat or use mods, your character will never become an unkillable monster. Even if you're max level, max stats and with best armor, you can still be kill easily if you're not prepared. That danger is always there and that what makes the game great.
