I listened at about 3:40 and easily like the MT-2 better

Like most kids in the 90's, this pedal got me metallica tones on my peavey rage...Now the kids have a million options to sound cool lol.

The Waza sounds a bit more measured and manageable than the original, at the cost of sounding a bit muted (to my ears.)
What I'm trying to say is that when I stomp the Metal Zone, I'm not looking for subtlety 🤘🖤😉

Thanks for an informative and comprehensive review! 😊

Been using the original mt-2 since it came out, boost it with a boss super overdrive and cant be beat!! Original kicks ass to this day..

LOL, I know most of the comments are a few years old, but I wonder how the Waza would have sounded against the original, if it was going into the front of the amp? If people describe the WAZA as sounding muted (or muffled), maybe it would sound "less fizzy", going strait into the front of an amp. Just a thought (years late to the party).

Play thrash and been using the original mt-2 since it came out. To me the original is king!!

I have a custom modded MT-2 that I had Chad Matthews put together for me which included "Some" but not "All" parts and mods from Monte Allums, that totally rocks!

It now has much improved "HiFi" performance via, better signal to noise ratio, and a more creamy sound, but STILL retains the
"Take No Prisoners Tone"
of the Original MT2.

My 1st Monte Allums MT2 had ALL of the Monte Allums mods, which completely CASTRATED the MT2.

Oh yeah, and I also omitted the "Bright Blue" from "Original Red" Led light "Swap-Out" the 2nd time around too, because of the
"Deer In The Headlights" effect whenever you engaged the pedal.

I would say that if you wanted an "Improved" DS-1, the "Complete" Monte Allums mod,
[ Minus the Led Swap-Out ],
would be an AWESOME way to go, because you would get the awesome EQ abilities of the MT2 coupled with a higher quality sound, in a pedal that "Tone Wise" is more like a "DS-1".

A "DS-1" on STEROIDS, or a "Super DS-1"!

But that was not what "I" wanted for my MT2, I have a Guyatone TD-1 when I want to go for a more vintage Drive tone.

I've had a MT2 for 10 years. Didn't really hear a ( favorable ) difference.

2:54 when you say "go into the return of an effects loop " what exactly is meant by that? i want to make it sound as good as possible

From this I would still choose the mt 2 original. Seems like the waza chokes it out a bit but could be wrong. Ive used the original for years and just bought the waza. Haven't received it yet so we shall see. Great video.

Back down the treble and back down the drive (a little bit), then boost the 500/650 hz and low end (a little bit) ::: would they still sound different ?

Funny I just went to guitar center and tested these pedals in person, I liked the original better and left the store with an MT-2

Mt-2 all day, thanks for the demonstration

Is there a difference in the noise when not playing and the pedals are on? Is the Waza quiet or does it make noise?

Don't see the need to get the new one at double the price 🤷🏻‍♂️. I find the Waza sounds muted which is a letdown ...I was really hoping for better

in order to make waza Craft from stock MT2, it is necessary to remove the c35 capacitor. It is all!

The waza sounds more modern where as the original has more buzz saw tone to it

So... It's another pedal that lives and dies by understanding what parametric mids are and setting them wisely. Got it.

(I hear a slight difference, but it sounds like the waza is just a little less harsh, but can still sound great or like crap for the same reason)

Thanks thoguh, it's good to know. I might try a waza and see whether I can see a real difference. That and my MT-2 might be gone so if I catch a good used price it will be an easy sell.
