Unboxing ZimaBoard SBC - A Tiny x86 Server

ZimaBoard is a tiny x86 single board computer powered by the Intel® Celeron® chipset (N3350 for Zimaboard 216 and N3450 for Zimaboard 432/832). It also comes with 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports and onboard eMMC storage, which makes the devices suitable for mini server or home router. Of course the device can run Windows or Linux distributions, for example Debian, ubuntu or OpenWRT.

At first, I purchased the Zimaboard 216 and some accessories as the project is great and I want to support it. After contacting Zimaboard team (Icewhale), they upgraded my order to the limited edition and helped to prioritize the shipment so that I can get the board on-hand earlier, in order to do create the videos and share with you all. So, special thanks to Zimaboard team for the assistance.

This video is just about unboxing. I will share more detail and testing with OpenWRT in the next video.

Finally someone test this for openwrt, we know opwrt can run on toaster.. but this board will give solid performance of routing traffic. 🤣 I hope..

This is off-topic. Would be willing to do a video on setting up a RPI4, as a server, on the same network with openwrt as it's internet gateway. I'm having trouble being able to see my Pi server. I've tried ddns, as well as, just opening port 80/443. Any help, or advice I would greatly appreciate.

I guess it's a bit off-topic for your channel but I'd love to see this board running Kodi. Or maybe a linux OS to make it a router, torrent box, NextCloud box AND a Kodi box also.. all rolled into one together!

Got my zimabord few weeks ago. Well, I'm disappointed. I setup opnsense on my board, then start adding services like Suricata, Crowdsec, Sensei, Ntopng, Adguard. Board just can't handle bare opnsense and randomly freezes. OS installed in emmc.
