Over 6,000 Canadians flocked to see Pierre Poilievre in Oshawa

True North’s Clayton DeMaine attended the massive rally in Oshawa, Ontario, on Thursday where an estimated 6,500 energized Canadians gathered to hear Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre speak.

Among the crowd were first-time voters and small business owners, many of whom expressed deep frustration after nearly a decade under the Liberal government—pointing to rising national debt, unaffordable housing, and a growing sense of hopelessness about Canada's future.

At the rally, Poilievre's pledge to cut the GST on made-in-Canada vehicles was a key highlight, especially as Oshawa’s auto industry braces for tariffs recently announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, a small group of pro-Palestinian counter-protesters gathered nearby—some going so far as to tell Canadians to “go back to Europe.”

We need these numbers bigger than ever before! This may be the last chance to save our country from utter turmoil. With immigration out of control, criminals released to repeat more crimes, drug over doses and homelessness a record high, not enough housing and healthcare for the number of people we have taken into the country, blocks on a lot of our natural resources including LNG plants, and a carbon tax that is only making life more difficult for us all and isn't doing much in terms of helping the planet. I think we need change. I think we need to finally be Canada First. I think we need to become self-sufficient. I think we need to grow and strengthen our military. I think we need Pierre & The Conservatives.

To my shame, I had never voted prior to 2021. I won’t be skipping out on a federal or provincial election again for as long as I breathe.
