5:45 right click the component in the tree while the shift+N is active and click “cycle component color”. Sadly it just gives you a random color but it does allow you to change it a little.

You can change the component color. Right click the component and choose "cycle component color".

7:40 I recommend just right clicking the component on the tree and use “ground to parent” instead of using the as built joint. There’s also a preference to automatically ground the first created component that I highly recommend turning on.

This is a very helpful introductory list of 'rules', thank you, as well as for the free downloads and links to the course by Jim!

I've put the "new component" on the toolbar before the sketch icon. Then I always remember rule #1. Thanks, this was quick and to the point.

Theinsanityunleashed is totally right, it is possible to change component colors.
Another tip for beginners; It's totally possible to rename sketches before you finish them, You just have to be sure You don't have a command active "Sketch line, Dimension, constraint command, etc..." press esc to be sure the mouse cursor is neutral then you can name it.

Love your Bro, it's as if 'we' were there on your shoulder asking the questions. :-)

You have used the terms "rigid joint" and "rigid group" synonymously but they are two different things. A rigid group holds two or more components and they don't even need to touch. A joint always connects two components and is meant to have the components snap together. An As-Built joint is the exception where they don't need to touch, but it is still only between two components.

Great video, what do you do if you create a component inside a component, how do I fix this, do I have to start over? Also, what if you create a component, and need to add a body, can I drag it in? can I drag bodies from other components?

A question on the grounding vs as built rigid joint....

Is that as necessary/important when using all external components? Or is ground better in that case? Still worse? The same?

I have a question not really about this video but about Fusion. I scaled my project to big I need to scale it down how can I do that?

What do you do when you need to have a master high level sketch that is used for multiple components?

It seems that if you don’t immediately create a component when you start but rather use the ‘create components from bodies’ later then the sketch does not reside inside the component. This is a problem because if you want to use the component in other projects then it has no details of the parametrics used. If that makes sense.

I absolutely hate the file management in Fusion. It's enough to make me want to jump ship.
