Who are Kara and Nate?!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.

We discovered the world of “travel hacking” while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)

So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world.

Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.” We started this channel to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.

4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time!

After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are in our 9TH YEAR of finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)

We are incredibly grateful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎 Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey!

Can we start a petition to convince Nate's parents to come on more than 1 big trip a year? They are so sweet and funny. Would love to see them more often!

Nate is the best driving instructor ever. He never gets angry, shouty, or impatient. Truly fantastic personality. And well done to Kara. If you're not used to a manual, learning clutch control in a 7.5 tonner is a baptism of fire.

Kara and Nate videos are the perfect starters for the weekend. They become an essential staple like Saturday morning cartoons when we were kids. ❤️😂

Nates dad looked so in his element driving, and his mom is just the cutest. What an epic family adventure, and a bucket list type of place to visit. Thanks for taking us along

Life skills! Knowing how to drive a manual transmission has come in CLUTCH a few times! My Gen Z Son was impressed by his Boomer Mom on our recent Europe trip.

The girls driving with the guys mentoring is the absolute best. Plus, mom making the vroom noises.

one of my first cars was a standard, one hill trick i learned... put the emergency brake on then you dont have to worry about holding the brake down or rolling back, then its easy to start letting clutch out and giving gas, when you feel it start to grab, release the e-brake and away you go!

Mr. James and Mrs. Christie need their own channel. They are hilarious.

OMG I LOOOVE Nates parents. His Mother gives me life! The amazing views in this video were just amazing, and the laughs were even better. Your content is varied, and I love that you switch things up. My father also has epilepsy. He was diagnosed at the age of 30. He has very similar seizures, and it made it very hard to diagnose, especially in the 70's. He has lived a long life and relatively healthy life with a few hiccups. He is 84 and goes to coffee 5 days a week with all his old buddies. Keep the faith and continue living your best life ❤

My big brother bought me a BMW 2002 manual transmission and left it at the house. My parents were away on vacation, and how to drive it? Another brother took me to road under a tressle that had a big dip, like an inside out hill, down up. He made me go up and down that dip until I could do it without rolling back. Kara, you brought back some fun memories with my big brothers. Before my brother took me to the dip, he had me driving around the block and my friends would come out and laugh as my little car would buck. That clutch was so sensitive, I had to let it just slowly and gas it up so the car wouldn't buck, but even in first gear, that car would go so fast I'd want to stop. Oh the memories. And you in a BIG truck! Congrats on that.

Kara! I’m so proud of you for getting up that hill!!!! I know so well the stress of trying to start up a hill in a stick shift and having to make multiple attempts. I’m so glad you didn’t give up.
I loved everything else about this video, too, just had to give Kara some mad props.

Iceland is beautiful but Nate’s Mum steals the show. Every time I see her in these videos, I see such a beautiful soul. And Kara well done! It takes a while to feel the “biting point” when going up a hill in a manual/stick shift. You did great for the first time and that too in a Truck! Loved this series.

My dad had a few rules before I could get license. Know how to check my oil, how to jump a car, had to change my tire and how to drive a standard. He made sure his daughters would be able to handle anything. He was a CDL driver all his life and so grateful to him for teaching all these skills. I have had to teach many women how to change a tire and jump a car because they were stranded. Also the scenario that my dad gave me for making sure I could drive a standard happened. In college I was the only sober driver and the only car available was a standard. Shocked the hell out of the guys when I jumped in and went let’s go.

I learned to drive a manual at age 16. They were cheaper cars, so us poor kids mostly started out that way. Lots of tears and dad yelling non stop. Lol it's a skill you'll always have once you learn it!

I always knew y’all were major couple goals! The frustration and communication and laughter during Kara’s drive is so telling of your love and friendship ❤️❤️
