I really appreciate how you don't disregard any; they are both different there is never one correct way.

I LOVE how you did this tutorial, so many people focus on NO DONT DO THIS its so refreshing to see somebody say "It depends on the vibe you want"

Both look amazing but I definitely like the side with the red, it added more expression to something as simple as a blueberry

As someone that wants to understand color theory more i really appreciate the insight! Subbed just from this short!

I can certainly appreciate the realism that layering colors lends to the artwork. Both techniques are valid depending on what outcome the artist is trying to achieve.

Given how the colors in a blueberry actually work (blue covering which is just translucent enough to let through some of the red from the inner layers), it makes sense that going with red and then blue makes it more realistic

Right: yep thats a blueberry

I love the music choice, Fukashigi no Carte is such a good song.

I love them both, and it goes to show how you can use both of these methods in a single piece. Say, using ala prima in smaller, less important areas of an image while giving the more important ones more detail so that they pop out to the viewer much more.

Another thing is that many amateur artists tend to think that there are some techniques that are simply objectively better than others, when in art, every technique has its place. Some may just be used less than others.

Love your taste in music you used for this short, Fukashigi no carte my beloved anime in a way.

I love how you answered the questions in a way that felt more informative than "FOOL YOU DONT UNDERSTAND COLOR THEORY!" It feels like you make both of them valued, then this is the right way to do it, and I think they are both really good.

The left almost has that “watercolor” look prints and stuff have, while the one with the under painting is more realistic. So cool to see the difference!

I like how he acknowledges how both ways are fine, not saying one is right or better. He speaks very nicely

You just blew my mind. I've been struggling with my watercolors looking flat for years no one ever pointed this out! Thank you!

the way the first colour softly shines through in some areas and around the edges just adds a lot of interest to the painting that isn't there if you do only one colour. for a blueberry the reddish colour variations are even realistic. but even if it were a technically unrealistic blue shimmering through on a banana, that's just one of the typical looks of watercolours and why they're so beautiful. it's a bit like the way clouds get illuminated in a range of vibrant colours that they don't normally have by a sunset.

I love how he doesn’t put down either of them, he just simply shows that they’re both different and wonderful in their own ways👍🏻

Both are satisfying results to come to. Also, Fugashiki No Carte Lo Fi just hits different. ❤

I think I like the mixing red and blue. To me it's makes it look more realistic

I really can’t decide which one looks better tbh. The one with red definitely looks more realistic, but the purple one looks way more vibrant. I can’t say that I prefer one over the other, they’re just different
