I've had this phone for 2+ Years, closer to the 3 Year margin. And I am surprised on how well it handles, comparing to my friends Sony its a big difference because his phone became super unusable within 3 months! Any ways, I love HTC's and I just wanted to add some experience I had with this phone.

Considering that smart phone life expectancy lies around less than two years (by my experience), I believe this phone could double that.. but not without some TLC. You see, I had my M7 for a long time and the only issue up to that two year mark was that the speakers (speaker casing) needed a clean / brushing as it seems to block up dirt over time. And also the Mic and the Aux needed a clean as they began to gather some dirt too. Functionality wise it still runs perfect. There isn't that much of an increase in RAM at the market currently so the 2GB it sports should still handle the modern programs that are slowly beginning to be designed for the 4GB models. And why Ram, you may ask, its because that was about the only thing it struggles with when you open up a lot of programs at the same time. Solution: I always keep a task manager close (main screen in fact) in order to quickly shut down all the unnecessary programs, which provides boost and longer battery life. Some people will say that HTC's are laggy and have a bad battery life, but I think those are the people who keep their programs running in the background. To quickly explain; a simple game left running in the background drained my battery faster by two hours! The battery, as mentioned in the video, should last a whole day and it really does... unless you use it the entire day at which point it will last up to 6hours (gaming wise). Any ways, the camera... Well, I wouldn't say it is bad. In fact I would say it is surprisingly good, the quality is perfect until you need to get a shot from the top of a hill over the city. At that point you begin to see the quality degrade as you start to see small pixels next to the clouds; but don't worry.. sometimes you can find a way around that by manually focusing the camera on something else. Overall, it really feels like its a phone and even though you see in the video that the man wasn't entirely happy with the button setup, I in fact found this setup to be very handy. The fact that the buttons on the bottom aren't in the screen is very good because not only they look like they belong they also don't take up space on the screen. And the design on these buttons are so elegant that they even give this phone some character, instead of like most phones (now-a-days) who just look plain and empty at the front and back this HTC has a very smart design and looks nothing like the other phones.

But now I am at that 3 Year mark and I am beginning to see it struggle. The bottom speaker needs replacing (rattles), the rear camera's glass cover has fallen off (easy fix), the AUX seems to no longer work (sometimes I can get one ear to work) and the battery is weak below 20%. By that I mean that it doesn't deplete naturally, it jumps from 20% to 18%, then it can jump to 12%, 8%, 2% and then turn off. Although, strangely it seems to deplete slower if you have it unlocked more. But this may have been my fault, it all depends on how the user charges their phone (especially at the beginning).

So heck, I ether fix it up or I upgrade. And sadly I can't find anything remotely close to a phone like this so it seems like I need to adjust to these 'plain looking phones' (my opinion) if I am looking towards an upgrade. It is sad that HTC didn't continue similar style on the newer models.. in fact they seem to become 'fatter' / 'bigger' the newer they get.

So now I am looking at an Huawei P8 and P9, not sure if that is a good choice.

That Ultrapixel camera has been the nail in the coffin for HTC because of the huge manufacturing problems, meaning HTC One has been delayed in places and will cost them dearly upon. Arrival of the S4. I really love the look of the One and hope they stick to yearly flagships and don't simply come out with newer iterations on a common basis.
