When I try this in latest Beta update, it just creates this blue abstract background. I'm not sure if I have a wrong setting?

Not working for me, I tried three times following exactly but it just produces a large blue blob over the whole image.

...For anyone interested, I just tried this technique in both Beta and the regular Photoshop...and it does not work in Beta

I tried this with a photo in a psd format in 8 and 16 bit depth and could not duplicate this. So I opened a jpg file and tried again. All I got in all instances was an almost solid blue result in every version given me by generate. I was using PS beta. I'd love for this to work for me because it would save me a lot of time. I would like to cut out the subject and then apply this effect to the remaining parts of the photo. I did try that but kept getting the same dark blue result. And they photo itself had very little blue in it. I was using 10% brightness.

Very clever, and worked great for me! I have a feeling that those complaining that it's not working are either using the wrong version of Photoshop or are just not following the steps.

Its probably been noted: Adobe seems to have inverted the Fill characteristics, so Higher B %= more original Image Tutorial worked well for me. Now show us how to mask out the subject and "paint" the background.

I needed something "different" for a piece of artwork I've been working on for some time. Not to be the finished version generated by AI, but something I could manipulate and extend (in Corel Painter) using my brain and my hands. This technique gave me the starting point. And it's now underway in the direction of my first ideas. So it's a big thumbs up from me

Adobe has removed AI photo to paint in the latest update. Not sure why.

I have Photoshop 2022. I was able to follow along until it came to typing in "Water color painting". I can't find anything in my edit to duplicate that step. Any suggestions besides getting an update?

Hi Arron, love the video and the effect, I have tried this and can't get it to work for some reason, I am just getting an effect like a smudge....I use windows 11 and tried spelling colour in both ways. Am also using Ps beta 15.10 can you advise. regards Colin Devon Uk

Interesting technique. However, I do not understand how (and don't agree with) the concept that using computer software to make a photo look like a painting makes the photo art, artistic, or fine art (pick one). It seems that photography is presumed to be a bit inferior to painting, which is completely erroneous.

This does not work (5 June 2024) probably because of updates to AI???
