Understanding & Using Water Soluble Fertilizer: Organic 5-1-1 Fish Emulsion & 15-30-15 Chemical Base

Water soluble fertilizers are immediately available to your plants. They can use the N-P-K and other nutrients right away. Insoluble fertilizer must break down over time for your plant to use it. I explain the difference and how to use either or both organic fish emulsion with a 5-1-1 N-P-K and a 15-30-15 N-P-K chemical fertilizer. It is your choice. I use both.

Someone show how much of the mixed fertilizer you add per plant - I was looking all over the internet, re-phrasing my question numerous times trying to find the answer! You should re-release this in 2020!! Thank you so much!!

Have you ever used liquid seaweed fertiliser? I got some recently and my container plants have really greened up and look really healthy.

I'm a beginner gardener. I don't care about "ORGANIC!!" stuff. I don't care about "HEALTHY!!" food. All I wanted to know was, how to feed my vegetables cheaply, but in a proper way. This video is simple, but I learned every basic knowledge that I wanted to learn. Other YouTuber's videos have too much information and made me more difficult to decide which fertilizer should I pick from Homedepot.

I love how you don’t only use organic. I also use a mix and I’ve gotten great results. I also use according the label and usually stretch the gallon of water over more than the recommended area since I use a sprayer.

I like to add liquid seawed to the fish emulsion and mix it together. I feed the liquid seaweed to my over wintered indoor cuttings and they stay green all winter.

I've use the fish emulsion in zone 10a; it works majority of the times. There are times when the plants will simply stop growing even though I fertilize them every 10 day with the fish emulsion. In addition, I noticed that my pepper plants leave will get yellow and rough as if they can't extract the Nitrogen from the soil. Every 2 weeks I use 1 table spoon of epsom salts per gallon of water to water them. There won't be any improvement, so I usually pull the plants and throw them away.

Good work sharing CALIBRATION, advanced calibration is applying before rain, GPM irrigation, etc.

Great study tool!

So I have some questions I was wondering about but can't find information on. For context I am fertilizing with Alaska fish fertilizer(5-1-1), and also morbloom(1-10-10). I am feeding tomatoes, peppers, and cukes in 3 - 8'x4'x12" raised beds.

So water soluble fertilizers are immediately available to the plants, and anything not used by the plants goes into the soil and helps to improve soil life.
--If I fertilize late evening, and then the next evening I water the garden, am I washing away all the nutrients from the day before that are left in the soil?

The second question is....

--What if instead of a weekly feeding of the recommended dosage for adult, flowering plants, you do several feedings of a much lower dosage? Will this have adverse effects provided you properly formulate the mixture?

I wanted to add that I really appreciate the help you provide with this channel, and your participation in it. This is my 3rd year gardening and Im still learning so much. Thank you so much.

hi gary. So would you continuously use the 5-1-1 for leafy growing plants and for others such as tomatos, peppers, onions, garlic, you would start with the 5-1-1 and the swap to the 4-8-4 when the plant needs to concentrate on fruit production and roots.

Awesome video Gary...Just bought some fish fertilizer for my veggies and excited to use it...I have and use Miracle Grow as well, and have been using that...It's just that I've heard so much about the fish fertilizer and how good it is for your plants, so thought I'd give it a try...I would like your input on this and/or your opinion at your earliest convenience...Thanks in advance... :)
