When customers states “my grandson can do it for $20”

This is a perfect example of how to get seriously hurt if not killed. This guy has no business using a chainsaw

Right away I knew he was a skilled arborist. It was the way he wore his hat.

At least he had his hat on backwards. That protects against most injuries

Standing on the second to last step of a 20ft ladder, I did an identical cut. The branch shot back into my chest and pushed me off. I landed on both my feet shattering my right heel and split my left heel into two. I didn't feel the pain until I tried to stand up and fell right back down. I had fairly new, steel toe leather boots on so you know they were tight. I had to pull both boots off because I couldn't handle the pressure building up. That pain was horrendous and I could see my fractures trying to brake through my skin as half my heel was in the same spot my Achilles tendon used to be. It took me almost an hour to pull myself 73ft to my vehicle using only my elbows and another hour to drive home where my woman then drove me to the hospital.
That was August 3rd 2020. I have 4 screws in my right heel and wore a cast on my left foot 1 1/2 months. I've re-broke my right heel twice and will have problems as I age.

Don't be stupid.

As a professional arborist I always told my children, if you ever see someone on a ladder with a chainsaw, start filming because they are about to become a YouTube star and an ER patient if they survive. You sir are one of the very few lucky ones.

Folks at home, never ever ever try this. You have not idea exactly how that branch is going to move. You have to take the weight off first, cutting from the end and working back. Do not assume the branch will falk straight down. If it was hanging in the air and your cut from under first then over, it might fall but even thats risky on a willow tree, it could crack and splinter before falling. This guy was scheduled for a serious injury on this that was miraculously avoided.

First video with a chainsaw and a ladder I’ve seen that did not end up in disaster.

You clearly need some training. That was an incredibly dangerous move.

This is a horrible example of how to use a chainsaw. Your lucky to be alive to post this video honestly. So much could’ve gone wrong

He's lucky, no protective gear at all, ladder is not tied off and the limb should have been reduced in size and weight before releasing all of that kinetic energy.

Squinting helps give your eyes maximum protection. Cap backwards means the peak wouldn't be ruined if the saw comes directly back at your face. Step ladder saves so much time and track bottoms mean you can head straight to the gym after work, if you've still got both arms. 😮

Love your safety gear and, "I'm really just a homeowner" skill in cutting that branch. I was worried I was going to see you get slammed when that branch sprung free. You got lucky.

0:37 When he grabs the ladder, this is when he thinks, "Hmmm, this isn't such a good idea." You should listen to that voice more often.

Bro never use a chainsaw while standing on a ladder if the branch swings back it could really hurt you bad.
