I'm an artist who also has a love for science and mathematics, and I love exploring ways to combine the three to create intricate and beautiful philosophical works. Probably my favorite of these works are video games. Amidst the growing indie scene, people nowadays often debate on whether or not video games can be considered an art. But in my opinion, they absolutely qualify as art and, although utilized primarily as entertainment devices, are a shining example of the beauty that can come from the combination of science and the arts. The programming and mathematics bring the characters and worlds of the artwork to life through interactive storytelling, and in this sense, I feel that the synthesis of art, science and math exhibited in video games shows how the three mediums combined can create living, breathing, artificial universes of their own.

Albert Einstein is a perfect example of a person, who combined art and science.
He was a great violinist.
“If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music.”
― Albert Einstein

I can't decide, which pieces of art mentioned in the video did you find the most interesting?

My partner and I are starting a contemporary dance company that will be based in scientific research and themes. She has a masters in psychology and is a full time professional dancer..! Anyways, it would appear that science and art both have limitless potentials in terms of exploration, and I think bringing it all back to the mind as the source is a valid point, but lets not forget about the body :D

Richard Feynman, learnt painting from a painter every sunday when he started once, they exchanged ideas, feynman told him about science and particle physics and what not, and that artist told taught him how to paint, etc

Art is everything that determines or incites a human feeling, emotion, desire, hope or belief...

The band Muse created an album dedicated to the Second Law of Thermodynamics and applied it to the world economic crisis, successfully combining art, science, and government ideals

I've always been really good at science and I'm very artistic. I suck at math though. I wonder about the mathematic equations and patterns found in Michelangelo's or Leonardo's paintings.

The band "They Might be Giants" has an awesome album with songs that talk about a wide range of different scientific topics. The song are awesome, and so are the music videos.

Actually, I think that science is needed to create to believable art. Anything you want to paint needed to be understod before. Artists create much studies of real objects and animals to create fictional artworks. Someone said that creativity is the sum of the things we know, and I agree with it. I also would prefer to see current digital artists who create all the stuff in movies and games and so on in the show. Most of the artists I know don't use classical art galleries anymore to publish their art. The internet changed much, even more technology, and it would be nice for a change to see this change when people speak about art.

Big fan of science and I'm an artist, photographer, model, music producer and DJ. Art is all about science!! Take Monet or Van Gough, Abstract. Impressionistic. Yet, strangely beautiful! Music is colourful, structured, sharp, dull, ambient, closed, open, violent, soft; you name it. It is all the science of psychology and social dynamics!! Both are so unique yet so similar, it takes my breath away!! I want more!!

The only example I can think of right now is how Hank Green makes amazing music that is also funny, thought-provoking, inspirational and educational, such as his song The Anglerfish Song Regarding the Human Mentality in Respect to How to Interpret Perpetually Felt Emotions While Educating You on the Subject of Anglerfish, which has a pretty long and self-explanatory title.

I'm glad you guys made this video. i love art and science. And I love combining them. I like drawing scientific diagrams. And I like including scientific theories in my fiction stories. Not to mention the amount of double helixs I draw on the sides of random papers in school.... next to all my doodles of as-realistic-as-possible eyes and manga.... yeah. My teachers don't know whether to love me for contributing to class or hate me for doodling so much :)

This video has sent me on a world of googling... I recall an old art teacher once talking about an artist painting the HIV virus and depicting it as something beautiful. I couldn't find the artist she was talking about but have found some similar work by Dave Putnam and specifically his 'Miracle of Hope' triptych. Apparently, his HIV+ friends found it helpful to envision what was happening to them internally. Although the virus can do horrible things, I think these paintings show that those who are HIV+ can be just as beautiful as everyone else.

Anyone who has ever tried to write music will agree, it is art and science. Electronic music writing especially, synthesis is mind blowing.

a usage of art that i have come up with is that art is where we create meaning
science and art can be complementary :3
and i don't see art as some sort of internal identity essence (soul stuff) 'inside' an artist but it is also social, so, it also exists 'out there' -- it is a relationship :3

I have found that artists and scientists are both very particular about their working processes, and because of the differences in how questions are researched and presented they feel disparate from one another. I think the greatest thing they have in common is active curiosity.

I love Da Vinci :) I love the concept of putting the two together. I don't get why so many people are sensitive about it. A compromise or a mix is in my opinion better than pure entities of either.
