In this in-depth video, our resident news anchor Dave Taylor takes us through the latest South African pricing on the recently launched Volkswagen Tiguan, T-Cross and Polo Vivo. In a refreshing development, this fleet of new VW's have been launched at similar or even lower pricing than the models they replace, a strategy rarely, if ever, seen in our market.

We'll take you through all those details, in, um, detail.

In the second half of the video, Dave walks us through the brand new, fully electric, Volvo EX90 which he was lucky enough to drive at the international launch in California.

The EX90 is a new flagship for Volvo and while Dave sings its praises, the car does have some rather interesting issues.

Thanks for watching and we'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments. See you there.

Half million for cheapest 3 cylinder 1000cc?!?!?😳 😱 OUTRAGEOUS!!!

but for VW the pricing is deceptive. When you add the options that come standard on other models ( read chinese) the price is still very high

Jumped on a plane to USA, drove a Volvo, came back and got straight into a Top Class Review. Dave The GOAT

Everyone needs to drop their prices. There's no other option, the Chinese are here.😊

Taking off 2.5% of the prices after bumping it up by 30% isn't a win

Perhaps the Chinese aren't so bad if they force manufacturers to lower their prices and give proper value for money.

The Chinese have done us all a huge favour. Legacy manufacturers are now realising that branding alone wont set them above the rest.

Specs and pricing are everything. Will wait for VW polo tsi prcing to drop next

I don't for one minute think that VW is interested in giving SA consumers good value. They have always been about hidden costs and charging more than they should for the cars

Suzuki fronx saves me over R150 000 over T cross. Slower but all the specs. 120 km is the speed limit. Fronx will sustain that speed😀

Thank you, China. This situation will ultimately favor the consumer. Established brands have long exploited consumers with their greed and outrageous pricing. Their complacency is bound to lead to their failure. We chose a Suzuki because it offers excellent value for money.

Chinese have taken over, the average south African needs that value for money

Nice try, saying that VW ‘has noticed the pricing situation’ …. You have to be kidding me. They NOTICED the prices ?!?! Buddy, they CREATED the pricing situation. In my 55 years on this planet, I have owned 5 German cars (2 Golf GTi’s, 2 Audi’s and a BMW 320d). The German legacy automakers in particular have been rap**g the SA consumer for years. Why ? Because we’re such brand-loyal idiots (or brand snobs), that we’ll pay anything they ask. We’re as much to blame, but let’s not pretend the automakers are trying to help us. After I got off the German pricing train, my last 2 cars have been Mazdas, but Japanese prices are also not exactly cheap, simply because they could still increase their prices but keep them below the astronomical German prices. At this rate, I can see myself getting a Haval or Chery when it comes time to replace my CX-5.

Truth be told I can't wait for that volvo man. Been following it's progress since I first saw its design 2022

It seems Mazda is the only remaining option for someone like me who prefers physical buttons for controls.

That’s probably not even R100 cheaper a month over 6 years … it’s negligible

I am really not a fan of VW specifically because of the bad value for money

Suzuki really took Volkswagen's lunch money 💰😐

I’ve previously owned 6 total VW/Audi cars… and I can honestly say at their current pricing, they’ll never smell my money again, even Mercedes, German manufacturers are smoking some weed, Chinese manufacturers are coming in strong

Great video 👍
They got to cut at least 35% up to 55% of current costs to become viable 😉
Remaining same will NOT help at all 😉

This makes me doubt VW. Our economy has been struggling for a long time and they never before decided to help us out as their consumers. The Chinese have come in and see the need for cheaper vehicles in our country. Only now VW are dropping their prices. It's not for us it's to make sure they keep their sales up. VW does not care about the consumer
