I like the way Robert Heinlein put it. If a nation can't raise a volunteer army to fight a war, and if that war is necessary to preserve the nation, then that nation has voted itself out of existence.

A nation fighting for its defense should fight back and even more so the people should volunteer to its defense rather than rely on a draft of randoms to take charge over it.
However a nation shouldn’t force others to fight as a way to compel them to fight

Wow! This is a great interview. Conscription is an act of aggression. And a volunteer army is better organized. She fails to mention the concept of a market-based military force, but Neo-Objectivists would.

Today many in our country would lay on the streets drugged or on their phones & not see the enemy or even care if they were about to be enslaved or annihilated except for a miniscule courageous moral select.

a volunteer army works great when it is a matter of enforcing the nation's interests worldwide, and there is no real risk of the country itself being invaded by a foreign power. However it works poorly if the nation has been attacked by a foreign power with a a draftee force, sufficient to overwhelm the volunteer force of the defending nation.
For example, North Korea has a massive drafted force relative to it's size. South Korea is significantly more populous than North Korea, and it also has a drafted force - solely because of the perennial North Korean threat. Imagine that they strictly relied on a volunteer force, for these philosophical reasons. Their force would be much smaller, and would risk being overrun by their significantly smaller neighbor who isn't at all draft-averse.
People who only philosophize and do not stop to consider reality, live in a normalcy-bias bubble.

Yes I served 28 years total combined active and guards I volunteered we had some that was forced in by legal means they were always troublesome but I also think volunteer military it's great is it supposed to be taken care of better they should be compensated better and they should be giving better privileges as veterans and the citizens who sit back won't pick up and defend their country in the nation's laws way of life those who sit back should have less privileges such as the Vets get first in line for everything military veteran law enforcement veteran firefighter bedroom border security vet and even active ones those people should not have to be dependent on welfare to supplement for their families like they are today

It's pretty funny to hear her talk about human life when she idolized a serial killer who murdered a little girl, dismembered her and, rather than return her alive as he promised, he threw the body parts out of his car in front of her father.

I agree that a draft is not a good idea. But it's not unconstitutional.
