In this video, we're going to take a look at "F The Prom," a movie that has reignited the debate about whether or not it's ok to make fun of people with harmful stereotypes.

The Fine Bros, creators of the popular "Kids React" series, made their first full-length movie called "F The Prom" which pokes fun at students for their sexuality, religion, gender and more. Unfortunately, the movie caused a lot of backlash from the onlione community when released in2017, with some saying the fine bros. destroyed their careers.

People forget that the fine bros were just as gross and inappropriate as Shane Dawson before they started their "react" series, they were doing skits with Shane.

My partner half way through this: “This movie seems like it was written by a homeschool kid who had high school described to them by the cast of 21 Jump Street.”
Nick: “The Fine Bros. we’re home schooled.”

Given that one of the earliest Fine Brother's creations was a web show wherein Shane Dawson would talk to a puppet of a child, whose whole shtick was making r*pe jokes, the characterization of the adults in this should not come as a surprise. I feel bad for the more obscure actors who had to go forth with this on their resume.

The way he said “I’ve never done that before” to taking a selfie like he was about to lose his virginity 💀💀

The fact that the fine brothers had whole series dedicated to kids react and teens react and think that making multiple weird statements about adults sleeping with minors is some type of funny thing to do is disgusting. Not only should they know better as adults but they are around minors all the time.

I still remember when they tried to trademark the react format, and one thing to note is that they also uploaded a video announcing it in which they encouraged their fans to "call people out" if they saw other people trying to "plagiarize their format" by also making react videos... basically telling their child fans to harass and bully other people who were making similar content. It was just so painfully out of touch and clueless. They did NOT invent the concept of reaction content, that kind of thing even pre-dates Youtube ffs.

That line about girls in high school being 'human dumpster fires' was really cruel knowing this was written by two middle age men.
All people in high school suck, so to have that level of insult happen as a 'mic drop' moment is especially uncomfortable.
*edit* oh that speech at the end made it way worse. They wrote several characters that have no personality. All of them suck. But then they made the main male character's personality telling the female character she has none... and her just :O the whole time. Hate it.

Fun fact. The fine bros used to make this HORRIBLE muppet show with SHANE DAWSON. The show featured a canonically 8 year old puppet that would constantly make r*** jokes

Society as a whole needs to become less ok with Hollywood, rich people, and adults sexualizing teenagers/high schoolers.

It really does make younger girls (and boys) less safe and using “jokes” to normalize peoples sexist justifications for letting these behaviors slide makes it even harder for survivors to get the justice they deserve

The creepy jokes make sense when you realize the Fine Bros were friends with Shane Dawson

Tina Fey wrote mean girls in a way that she would be able to laugh at it. The fine brothers clearly dumbed themselves down when they wrote this movie bc they think so little of teenagers

That comment about the teenage girl being “killer in the sack” or whatever it was, my mind is already trying to erase it, made me audibly gasp and my jaw drop. That was so gross and inappropriate

This movie feels like an AI program was told to write a “inappropriate teen sex comedy”… and then the computer got infected by a virus and just ruined the file. Lol.

4:31 I can't believe Nick recognized that actor from Super 8 and not for his role in the critically reviewed movie "The Kissing Booth"

Every line said by Coles' dad should be classified as a jumpscare

The thing that always pisses me off about these movies is that it’s grown men who make them, and grown men who make it seem like high school is single handedly the most important years of your lives.

They’re laughably not. The only ones who think so are the ones who peaked there.

There is something very wrong about grown men, that work with kids, writing the Dad character the way they did. It’s really creepy and alarming.

Re: the Colorado river
The number one crop that the US puts most of its water to is... LAWNS! One of the easiest ways individuals who own a lawn or have a hands off landlord with lawns can convert unused sections of their lawns into (preferably native) plant zones/flower beds! You can also get foot traffic safe low water creeping plants that aren't grass (a low traffic one that comes to mind is creeping thyme, or a higher traffic one is red clover) which tend to use less water and are often less maintaince too!

Planting more native plants uses less water, but is also helpful to our climate and native bug and critter populations, and it's often beautiful!! I had a yard in a house that I was renting that had a beautiful but rewilded forest section in the small backyard that I was helping become more native last year! ❤ It was beautiful and it felt so good to help nature, even in a small way. ❤❤❤

I love how Nick uses his platform to spread awareness about important issues in basically every video. I don't think enough creators realize that they can use their platform to make an impact without significantly shifting the tone or entertainment quality of their channel.
