okay so you could essentially take stuff out (like that guy who took out his jacket and the carry on fit), and then once you go through security or after check in, put it back in the carry on 😂😂😂

I bought an Air Canada brand carry-on bag and it didn't fit!

I know this suggestion is a couple of years late but don't you think that it might have been helpful to travelers to have mentioned the actual weight and size restrictions imposed by Air Canada on carry-on luggage?

A tip is when you check in, never arrive with bags that do not fit the requirement by a tiny amount. Take that jacket out, or something. You can always put it in later...

airlines are not suffering for billion dollars in baggage fees every yet....the seats are shrinking and personal of tickets rising and hidden fees. people are trying to avoid checking because of cost so carryons are getting heavier and

Obviously people are going to try to bring more carry on when you charge them 30 dollars for just one checked luggage.

I had a carry-on bag that had a textured top, which was catching on the metal bar and slowing (not stopping) the bag from fitting into Air Canada's tester. The attendant there told me that this constituted as the bag not fitting, and that it would have to be checked. I took a light jacket out of the bag and on my person, and the bag then no longer caught on the metal bar and could be carried on. Really, Air Canada?

Just a money racket, checking bags is big bucks

It's about time somebody started enforcing carry-on size limits. I'm tired of people with huge bags holding everything up trying to stuff them into the overheads.

All the airlines should enforce this better. I’m sick of having to hold my little carry on bag on my lap cause the overhead is stuffed with giant oversized cases.

We ran into the same issue with a carryon that had travelled the world with multiple airlines with never a problem. The oddest thing is it even fit the measuring guide after we took a few items out. Well, the very rude gate staff would not let it in! So much for Christmas spirit (bah humbug!!) - the flight was on the 24th Dec 2019.
The worst part is, there is no consistency on whose carry on gets checked - it's random and to some extend targets those with colored skin! And so there are those with exact same size bags or even larger that were allowed onboard.
Now I understand the saying in Canada: Air Canada - We are NOT happy until You are NOT happy!

Avoid this airline - it sucked!

I liked the woman who expanded her bag and then was surprised that it didn't fit.

It's time Air Canada stopped being the problem and started being part of the solution. There needs to be more standardised sizing and reasonable allowances. They seem to first that they're biting the hand that feeds them. Perhaps the answer is to boycott the airline, let them go broke so we can get a new airline onboard.

I try to make sure my bag fits at home, and I can even bring a ski bag as standard luggage (fits in the requirements of norwegian!). If I get asked to check it and it suddenly does not, or they suspect it is not allowed, I point out that my bag is clearly (!) within the allowance. Most if not all ski bags fit in the requiremenys with room to spare (mine can be double the size). So I'll be traveling with that and I'm goood🙃

Air Canada are being crazy on this. They are panicking over the amount of people going all carry-on.

Good job Air Canada. There are too many passengers who over packed and brings everything into cabin.

Why not make wheels on suitcases retractable-when not in use?

LOL - My laptop bag wouldn't pass that test and I`d be stuffed if I would trust the staff to " HANDLE WITH CARE "
Been on plenty of flights and seen what they do to the bags.
Even saw my own bag get thrown a few times while they were packing AFTER we had already been seated on the plane.
They don't care about damages at all.
