Here's a little bonus episode of OSFirstTimer to celebrate April Fools and farewell the classic OSFirstTimer monitor that is now for sale on ebay here:

Please note eBay has incorrectly stated the weight of the monitor. The shipping will be less than the calculated shipping price. We will base it on 6-7 kg rather than 8-9 kg and charge only that.

The title and description of the video will change in a few days to the real name of the operating system. For now the name is a mystery to avoid spoiling the surprise.

Remember that whoever buys the monitor gets to be featured in the next OSFirstTimer video for 5 minutes! Don't miss out!

'This operating system should be illegal if it's allowing you to do illegal things on it.'
So, every operating system that can connect to the internet should be illegal?

My car should be illegal because it allows me to break the law by speeding.

Thank god you didn't show her the "erotica" part... she would be crying right now.

OSFirstTimer I do *not* want to be rude, but you did mislead Diana a bit in this video. Using the TOR browser isn't *illegal*, It depends what you do with it. For example, in some countries there are websites that you just cannot access there, because when your proxy comes from that country it denies the access. That's where the TOR browser comes in. With the ability of bouncing connections one from another makes it easy for people to access websites what are not allowed in their country... It's not Tails OS' or the TOR browser's fault that people use it for doing horrible things. TOR is actually made by the US government, to let people in countries that do not allow people to access some websites.

I don't think you've fairly represented this OS.  You've shown the bad things that can be done with it but you haven't even mentioned the fact that is it used by people in oppressed countries in order to communicate with the outside world without fear of being persecuted by their governments.  People like Edward Snowden also use Tails in order to protect their privacy.

If you're going to feature something like this on your channel then I think it's important that you represent it properly and not just make it out to be something used by shady people trying to buy drugs or hire an assassin.

You may not know this, but there are countries in this world (i.e. China) that try to keep their population as uninformed as possible so as to rule them using propaganda and censorship. This OS provides a way for the people who live in these countries to inform themselves about actual reality. The Windows XP-like GUI enables people to do so even in a public setting (like an internet café). Privacy is not a bad thing, it is the foundation of freedom and should be embraced for what it is.

Just FYI all these things can be done on any OS, not just Tails. Tails is just a convenient bundle with everything pre-installed.

Very important... If you buy the monitor and you don't live in Australia you will need an adaptor so you can plug it into your wall. Luckily adaptors are pretty cheap in most places and not usually over $30 :)

EDIT TO ADD: I've thought about this more and Diana did not have the full story behind TOR, deep web, etc. (because this is an April's Fools joke type set up)... So, it's not really fair for me to be "shocked" by her reaction. However, I still hope both mother and son consider the broader implications of anonymity and the danger posed by condemning tools because of those who misuse them.

The very same objections she voices were used decades ago against the internet proper when it first came to light that people were able to download things like the anarchist's cookbook or instructions on how to make pipe bombs. You can look up all kinds of dangerous and harmful things on google... does that mean we should eliminate it totally so people don't have access to that information?

No. The risk of people abusing such information is just the price we pay for living in a free world with a free exchange of information. The internet (and deep web and TOR browser) are just tools. What people do with those tools are on them and any criminal activity that arises from such tools is NOT the fault of the tools themselves.

Don't forget, Tor is made with privacy in mind, although people use it for illegal things, I think it should not be banned
