CERN News - Physics restarts in the LHC at new record energy

The LHC has started proton collisions at the unprecedent energy of 4 TeV per beam. where is the HERA machine? which should be able to collide protons and electrons at high energies? producing quark jets?

It will translate into confirming our understanding of the basic physics that makes up the universe or telling use that we are missing something. The theory says a particle called the Higgs Boson is responsible for mass, if they confirm it's existence we know the theories are correct, if we dismiss it's existence we know that our model of the quantum world isn't right. It's about the pursuit of knowledge ... raw basic knowledge. Somethings humans naturally quest for.
