Put a lawn sprinkler on it to hydrate. Twice a day should help with the stress. I use this method with wind burn trees and in the hottest part of summer. My trees love it.

Great idea on the ground stakes. That should definitely keep them standing upright and yes, one should do it to spread them further. Also, may be less expensive to make yourself if you have a torch to heat the rebar. I’ve got a big local nursery near me that has a huge selection of JMs that are on situated in a large field-type area and they use the same staking solution on a lot of their 15G + sizes and this has seemed to solve the tipping problem. #maplenutz 🥜

I bought a 10 gallon tree from Mr. Maple on Memorial day and it started dropping leaves 5 days later. The tree has never been in the sun and watered it just like the other 10 gallon I bought which is doing fine. As of today it looks worse than ever. I'm so disappointed ☹️

Ouch! Price we pay for pushing the envelope! For years I avoided A. palmatum for the very issue you are dealing with now. Sure, it looks ugly for awhile, but as long as the roots didn't get cooked, it should bounce right back with a little TLC. Keep your eyes on the trunk and branches to see if you have any sun scald. That's not always fatal, but it is a permanent condition, and you'll notice it every time you tend the tree. As long as the roots didn't get cooked, you may be surprised how quickly it comes back!

#maplenutz. Your Sensu will recuperate, is just part of the process and happens very often to everyone I’m pretty sure.

One stake per tree ought to do it, for sure! On the side the wind comes from! You got it Maple Nutz!

It’s an understory tree
I roasted over 7 trees so far and I’m just now realizing that it was my location

Can you place the tree by the shadecloth?
If you want to send it to me bareroot in spring I'll send you money plus shipping and materials.
