funny thing is, most vehicles are loaded with parts made in China regardless of where they are assembled.

Love the channel and the show. You guys really need to make the distinction between EVs depreciating, and early adopters paying the extortionary prices that dealers were asking and getting from those dumb enough to pay the bleeding edge tax.

53Billion, well that is about 50% of what we have been giving the oil and gas industry for subsidies and that has not stopped.

Canadian Government needs to get the EV charging infrastructure going first and drop those EV manufacturing and Oil & Gas subsidies.

Awesome input and thank you so much for answering my question. I obviously have my own opinions on the matter but I believe everyone should hear other people's opinions and points especially when it comes from SME (subject matter experts) like yourselves

I'm sorry there's mixed messages everywhere. China does massive subsidies, yet it's bad that Canada subsidizes or gets involved? It's not a level playing field regardless.

I'm planning to drive my EV into the ground (ID.4). At this point, I'll get similar benefits of any future range increases with the continued build up of EV charging infrastructure, especially more slow charging at places like grocery stores, libraries, etc.

Really good QC&C. Thought provoking and exposing some great information.
Off topic, but I really like Zacks shirt. It appears to be great quality. What brand is it? Thanks, you two are the best!

EV's have insane lease deals...tried trading in my 2023 CR-V Hybrid for a 2025 Malibu RS & I was told I'm better trading it for the Blazer EV because they're a steal right now 😅

I think saying, "Government, don't get involved. Let people buy what they want to buy when they want to buy it" has a bad assumption that everyone has the money to buy what they want. I think there is a big group of people who are very concerned about the environment and want to get an EV but can't afford to. With incentives it helps people get over the hump of the price difference between gas and EV. Especially early on when tech is in its infancy it helps companies figure out the tech and increase economy of scale so prices can go down faster than just letting the market slowly transition to EV. Without incentives to drive sales, how many EV models would there be? A handful? Looking at hybrids, it was pretty much just Toyota Prius and Honda Insight for the longest time.

The Grand Highlander has a “ no sale “on it ( as of 2 weeks ago anyways ) that is a Toyota not a dealership situation. This is as you said, due to the third party made airbags being defective. A fix should be in place b6 now but production is probably no where near turning* out the numbers of replacement airbags that are needed for all sold or sitting on the lot but not being released to customers Grand Highlanders. Remember Toyota is also dealing with an issue with crank bearing issues on the new a Tundra twin turbo V6, that apparently is being recalled ( I guess the6 have a fix? ) with over 100, 000 units being affected. What is going on with Toyota? P.S.your “ show is great!

The new A5 is basically a new A4.
Audi‘s new nomenclature is based on whether it’s ICE or EV.
Odd numbers are ICE and even numbers are EV.

Responsible governments trying to find ways to reduce emissions dealing with climate change. There aren’t a lot of tools democratic governments can use to achieve these goals, other than to support green initiatives, support the R & D for new technologies like EVs.

I understand the no government involvement but it’s not a level playing field, we’re still in the baby steps phase of EVs. And to allow super subsidized Chinese cars in with all that CCP R&D, our burgeoning EV car industry would be destroyed quickly, and auto manufacturers would have to all go back to ICE vehicles. And we’d be back in the good all days of a huge carbon footprint. Kind of a rock and a hard place scenario.

I keep hearing about new battery technology “solid state” which will improve range and charge times. Wondering when this will come to vehicle market

Note: Looks like VW, Ford and Stellantis are having 2nd thoughts on the EV plants.

Fun fact, the tariffs on Chinese EVs also increased the price of ebikes, even made in America. UL Listed batteries caught strays because of their Chinese sourced components. So now ebikes, also a vehicle that lowers emissions like the US wants to do, cost $100-$200 more 🙃
