How to program a new key for the Cruze.

This is a "US" 2011 Chevy Cruze.

1. Insert old (working) key turn to the on position. Wait till dinging stops. Remove key.

2. Insert new key, turn to the on position. Wait till dinging stops. Remove key.

3. Repeat step (2) once dinging stops, start the engine. Done

The car will now start the car and all button functions will work.

After doing a ton of research to replace the key fob for my daughter’s 2011 Chevy Cruze, I ended up buying an uncut fob (which has the key built in). A locksmith wanted a couple hundred dollars to cut and program and I’m sure the dealership would charge more. I learned that all Ace Hardware stores have the special key cutting machine and my local store only charged $20 to cut it. Then I looked at several programming videos. Most were complex until I found this simple procedure. I watched it twice and tried it. It worked perfectly and was incredibly fast and super easy!! Thank you so very much for sharing this simple easy way to do it!! The old messed up key fob actually still works so now we have two!! One is the emergency spare key. :)

2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel with remote start (Key 23316207) - Local dealership acted like it was a big deal to program the key when it came in after being cut by the manufacturer. They were also somewhat demeaning when explaining how they normally did the programming in the shop and he was pretty sure I would not be able to. I did check the manual which also had the same steps in it but wanted to see it before attempting since I assumed it had to be harder to do.

Worked exactly as described in the video and only took a minute. Thank you for posting the instructions and the detailed video. Saved money.

Worked for my Chevy Cruze 2013 except I inserted the old key and then the new key three times in a row (not sure if it was necessary but I wanted to be sure it worked). Not sure why this video is so divided on the up and down votes. This saved me a trip to the dealer and being scammed out of my money. Thanks!

Thanks. Let my battery in the fob stay dead too long. A new battery and this video fixed it.

I have a 2013 Cruze. I just bought two replacement fobs on Amazon. I had them cut by a locksmith and the new fobs started the car right away without programming. Interesting.

Can you do the remote window roll down by holding unlock or lock on the key fob? I used to be able to do it, but it doesn't work anymore.
