When a Software Engineer gets a Steam Deck!

I recently got a steam deck which I thought can be used for handheld coding :P. Interestingly, vscode, android studio + emulator works pretty well. So, at least in the docked mode, steam deck is fully capable of becoming a coding machine.

In the handheld mode, you will have a hard time writing code. We probably need a great speech to text software for writing code in the handheld mode.

Why the heck you need to install windows for coding?

it works until you need a laptop... then i switch to VNC > using nextdock w/ samsung dex

Simply press X while in the coding software with steam open to open a virtual keyboard, then put your thumbs on the 2 trackpads and your off

Thanks, im planning buy a steamdeck instead a notebook to code and game... If it run Android studio xD i can run my java springboot aplications using a mouse and keyboard

Just a doubt remains, why dual boot If you can still using linux?

Steamos is not great for coding. Since the root folder gets wiped on every update. Also ngl the deck's cpu is kinda slow lol
