I pre-commissioned USS San Jacinto CG-56. Not even 35 years later I attended a decommissioning “celebration” for San Jack. They built these splendid cruisers in a destroyer’s hull. There is absolutely no room left for growth. They should have built them in a USS California CGN-36 hull. There would STILL be plenty of room for growth left over.

Always loved the Ticonderoga class cruisers 1/2 mile from the carrier. Doing it’s job, protecting the fleet

The Iowa class battleship's main gun caliber was 50. It was a 16” 50 caliber naval gun. The caliber was not the size of the shell, but a ratio of bore diameter to barrel length.

Australian navy should acquire one of these cruisers as a flagship for the fleet.

What people don't realize is that Aegis is not the boat. Aegis is like skynet. It's a hivemind system that can select any ship equipped with the system and make decisions on its own.

Finally! Someone pronounces Aegis correctly.

This video was supposed to be about the Ticonderoga class cruisers. instead it focussed on different types of missile launching, footage and description of other classes of ships. A bit off the track. Not much about the ships themselves.

0:10 … Its position is still irreplacable

OK. Of the 27 units built, 14 have been decommissioned by June 2024. Five are intended to be decommissioned in 2024 and 2025. The remaining eight ships will certainly follow over the next three of four years, because first: THey, too, are rather old and probably worn out. Second: The logistics necessary for small ship classes is much more expensive per ship than the logistiscs for big ship classes. It makes little sense to keep eight of these ships around

The San Antonio Class and the America Class USN ships have a larger tonnage than the Ticonderroga Class Cruiser.

Before you make these claims, please checked with the gator Navy of the USN LHD, LHA ships.

2 versions of these if we are still building them. a missile one that does not have a gun to do fleet work, a Gator version with no forward missiles and an 8" gun for gunfire support. That 8" gun replaced with the railgun when it finally matures.

The droning robo-narrator greatly diminishes this post.

The congress has found out that the radar is outdated and that it's missiles can't hit a target because of that.
But the US propaganda must go on 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
