Yes, this!, thank you “Parents need new skills” has always felt like a taboo growing up the response is always “don’t tell me how to raise my child” but like then learn how to ask for help cause if not your kids may end up parenting you, and no one wants that.

"Your child, the government, the schools, and the video game developers aren't responsible for raising your child"
Parents: 😮

This is so true, ive seen this happen with a relative of mine. His mom tells him to do his homework and no videogames, but doesnt really explain why or help him manage his school work. She doesnt explain what needs to be done and why, just tells him that its his responsibility and leaves him to regulate himself. Eventually he does less homework and plays more videogames in secret in the middle of the night.

I'm 24 and still live with my parents, so I don't plan on having children tomorrow but I always said that if one day I'm having kids, I'll 100% go on a parent formation or something, I refuse to improvise this job

A lot of parents fail as parents because their parents failed as parents and they haven't learned anything from their failure.

It's like the parents that say "My child is a fussy eater" but I observe them giving their kids junk not healthy food

This applies in basically everything as a parent. Seemingly about 70 percent of who we are comes from our childhood or our parents. So if there's a fundamental gap or flaw in us as people, most of the time it's from a lack of some kind of input or guidance from the parent themselves.

So many parents silence their children with smartphones and then complain why they didn't like homework.

this man is doing wonderful work, i legit didnt want to "coach" my younger sibling and show him all the best games since i was worried to lead him down the same path i have. he is incredibly young yet already playing nonstop, id love for his mom to get in touch with this, gonna discuss this with her

The parent needs to also not be addicted to the internet while raising a child

As a modern-day 15-year-old, thank you to my mom for teaching me discipline. I see so many kids at my school who aren't mature, don't have filters, are addicted to technology, and worst of all project their insecurities by bullying and making mindless assumptions about others. I pity them because they weren't raised right. And I pity the mature people who have to be on the receiving end of this bullying because they are so different from the typical teenager.

Um, should be a no-brainer. Not everyone should have kids. Simple truth.

The unfortunate truth is that i suffered through this exactly what you said in several ways. There is a driver license, but mental health professionals didn‘t come up with parenting licensees, in order to sort out unskilled parents. If they are able they get a license.

This very true. New skills are required. Great explanation. Times change, parenting skills gotta change with it.

The way he explains it boils down to "yes parents have responsibilities for their children as well". Ofc the government wont step in (and shouldnt imo) nor will the developer or the kid.
