C2 Proficiency (CPE) Listening Test 2 with answers helps you practice listening skills for the C2 Proficiency Listening Test new format.

The C2 Proficiency Listening paper has four parts. For each part you have to listen to a recorded text or texts and answer some questions. You hear each recording twice.

Part 1: Three short, unrelated recordings lasting approximately 1 minute each. You have to listen to the recordings and answer two multiple-choice questions for each recording. Each question has three options (A, B or C). One mark for each correct answer.

Part 2: A monologue or prompted monologue lasting 3–4 minutes. The questions are a series of incomplete sentences. You have to listen to the recording and identify the information you need (one to three words) to fill each gap. One mark for each correct answer.

Part 3: A recording with interacting speakers lasting 3–4 minutes. You have to listen to the recording and answer a series of multiple-choice questions, each with four options (A, B, C or D). One mark for each correct answer.

Part 4: Five short, themed monologues, of approximately 35 seconds each. There are two multiple-matching tasks. Each multiple-matching task requires the selection of the five correct options from a list of eight. One mark for each correct answer.

There are 30 questions in the CPE Listening Test.

the speaker didn't mention anything about glass bottles in question 5, why is C the right answer? I chose it when I was listening to the recording the first time, but then I decided to go with A just because glass bottles weren't mentioned at all

In part 1 extract 3 I don't know why the right answer for number 5 is C when I think It should be B. I've checked the transcript and according to it should be B, there's no mention to glass bottle.

thank you for all this. However for part 1 1st question I don't understand why the answer C does not match. I still don't understand why it wouldn't when reading the transcript

This is my first try on a C2 listening and I got a 20/30. It's not a perfect score but I'm very proud of myself.💗

Great group of exercises. Thank you very much for sharing. But I have a question: At the beginning of extract 1, the voice says: "...new virulent strains of bacteria are populating the seas of northern Europe..." and then she says: "...putting this down in the effects of man-made climate change...". So, my doubt is about the meaning of "putting this down". Does it mean: blaming?

Could the answer for Question 30 also be D (10 years) vs. E (had enough)? If not, why not?

This one was more difficult than the first one, especially part 2 for me. Well, I still got 25/30 but I will definitely practise some more tests

I think it is way harder than listening papers from " Objective Proficiency". In the book i was getting most of them correct. Here it seems like whole another level of understanding.
