Time allowed: 16 minutes per pair of candidates
Number of parts: 3
You have to talk: with the examiner with the other candidate on your own

Part 1 (Interview)
What's in Part 1? Conversation between the interlocutor and each candidate. The examiner asks each of you a series of questions, addressing a question to each of you in turn, to give you an opportunity to talk about yourselves.

What do I have to practise? Giving information about yourself and expressing your opinion or speculating about various topics.

How long does Part 1 last? 2 minutes

Part 2 (Collaborative task)
What's in Part 2? The interlocutor gives you some spoken instructions and one or more pictures to look at. First, you have to answer a question which focuses on your reaction to aspects of one or more pictures (1 minute). The second part is a decision-making task which you have to do with the other candidate.

What do I have to practise? Sustaining an interaction: exchanging ideas, expressing and justifying opinions, agreeing and/or disagreeing, suggesting, speculating, evaluating, reaching a decision through negotiation, etc.

How long does Part 2 last? 4 minutes

Part 3 (Long turn and discussion)
What's in Part 3? The interlocutor gives you a card with a question and some ideas on it and you have to speak for about 2 minutes on your own. After you finish, your partner has to comment and the interlocutor then asks you both a question on the same topic. The interlocutor follows the same procedure with your partner and then leads a discussion with both of you.

What do I have to practise? Speaking on your own for a longer time, expressing and justifying opinions, developing topics.

How long does Part 3 last? 10 minutes (2-minute long turn for each candidate and then approximately 6 minutes for the discussion).

Cambridge English speaking tests take place with one or two other candidates, and two examiners. This makes your test more realistic and more reliable.

Both candidates in this video are at C2 level. You can read the examiner's comments in the description box below the video.

The examiner's pronounciation is so PERFECT. It was so satisfying just hearing her speak.

She described the sounds of the forest better than I could do in my language.

"raise awareness"
The expression every English student uses in every discussion ever😂😂

Everyone who’s saying this is mediocre, you’re forgetting the pressure of having to perform on a moment you’ve been working toward for months. You don’t have any idea of the subject you’re going to have to talk about, neither do you know your examiner or the person you’ll be doing the exam with. Obviously everyone who speaks English on a professional level is able to articulate themselves quite well, but the criteria of a C2 level are quite complex. I scored a B on my C2 exam, but speaking was my lowest grade. It’s just a nerve wrecking exam, there’s no real way to prepare for it. Taking the nerves into account, they performed really well. Being able to string together coherent sentences while you’re stressed out means you’ve internalized the language pretty well. Try it before you judge!

Annick is very well spoken. I think Derk was a bit nervous

Just did the exam. It was quite easy to be honest. My tips? Watch these videos and answer every question. Also if you run out of ideas when talking about a given topic, just talk about something related. The important thing is that you talk!

I understood everything but I’m not sure I could answer as perfect as Annick did😂

I'm laughing so hard at all those comments saying "wow that's pretty easy!" It's not about the questions, it's about how you answer them! Your pronunciation, the vocabulary you use and so on.

It's been 7 years! I need a "where are they now" video.

The examiner's pronunciation is like when we hear a pre recorded exercise. PERFECT

The swiss girl has just a perfect English and her intonation, as well her pronunciation are on point. I'm positively surprised how well she ordered the ideas and the knowledge she demonstrates about the topics she was talking about. It is mesmerizing how she smiles at the boy every time she interracts with him. It's fascinating the way she looks at him. That's admirable. She knows all the vocabulary related to the topics and she uses an English grammar correctly. The girl doesn't show nerviousness or concern. I suppose she got a highest mark that is possible on the spoken test. She has a very good level of English. I hope her qualification is 10 out of 10.
Congratulations!
Excellent job, girl!

I remember in my examination, i was paired with a friend or mine and we randomly started laughing. The examiner gave us a dead look but thank god, she generously passed us with the bare minimum degree lol

The girl ate and left no crumbles ! Really, I love her confidence, fluency, pronunciation, accent and the way she took the reins in every single question ! One of the best speaking tests I have ever listened to ❤

This is so nerve wrecking.

And not just because of lack of sufficient social distancing

I am so glad that my English teacher does this kind of exercises in class. I knew how to answer to all of them.

I did my exam 2 years ago.
The only difference is that the examiners were also a bit nervous because there was a 3rd examiner examining them.
Nevertheless, they were great and spoke quite clearly.
All in all, the speaking could have gone better for me... But I still scored an A overall ;)

I think Annick's speaking is perfect! It looked like Derk was a bit nervous, so he doesn't speak too much... But he is very good as well.

Am i the only one who wonders how have they been? i mean their plans for the future, have they worked out? a lot can happen in 6 years and i just wonder if he is already a doctor or the if the girl did that 18 month internship. I'm just about to finish high school just like them, and don't know what the heck i'm gonna do with my life.
