Maybe it's just a Chevy thing but I didn't have to upgrade the usb port after the installation and the android auto/apple carplay worked just fine after plugging my phone in to the original usb port. I also like that I get to keep the sd card feature. I have a 2015 gmc sierra 1500 denali.

So do you have to buy a used HDMI and radio pack behind the radio and they charge $99 to program? Or does the $99 cover the parts and programming?

I called one of the main audio companies in my area and they said they don't upgrade components like in this video. They said they replace the entire radio with an Apple Car Play radio. That was a little disappointing. I like the way my screen looks. I just don't want some modified frame around the new screen because they never look good. It's so obvious that the unit was added afterwards. I said I can probably do this myself I just figured I would pay for it and be done with it.

I've located the HMI unit in my dash. Where is the radio module located in the dash? I couldn't find a video on it.
I'm also going thru WMAS
