LESSON RESOURCES:
Clap Back – Great for checking the accuracy in your rhythm. Practice at least 3 clap back exercises a day.

Rhythmic Reading – Great for developing your own internal rhythm since you will be reproducing the rhythm without a guide. Practice at least 3 rhythmic reading exercises a day.

Tim gives only helpful websites out here. First it was the note identification and intervals. Now this. I've been practicing rhythm in this new one, and even though my hand hurts from clapping too much, I have improved and I feel like I will approach the sheet music more confidently.

Hi, I'm a music teacher at tertiary level. Just be aware that in some bars, the subdivision of the beats is incorrect which makes the reading difficult. A dotted quarter note to 8th note should only fall on the first two or last two beats of a bar in 4/4 time, as the first half and second half of the bar should be clear (e.g. clearly seeing where beat 2 ends and beat 3 begins i.e 1 & 2 & / 3 & 4 & not 1 & 2 & 3 / & 4 &). In bar 1 of this example, you cannot clearly see where beat 3 begins. Bars 4 and 5 are correct. In bar one, having two 8th notes on beat 3, with a tie from beat 2 would be the correct way to notate. Having incorrect subdivisions makes the music more difficult to read, so if anyone does stumble over these bars, it's not your fault, but the notation is wrong. Hope that helps 🙂
