A 32-year-old man faces eight charges after attacking a group of young people on the Galloping Goose trail in Langford, Vancouver Island. The incident occurred at 10:22 p.m. on Sept. 4, when a man wearing a balaclava and armed with bear spray and an edged weapon assaulted four youths. One victim suffered a serious knife wound, while the others were treated at the scene.
Five minutes after police responded, officers arrested Kai Alexander Seppala at a nearby home, seizing a knife and bear spray. Seppala faces charges including assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and wearing a disguise with intent. He remains in custody, with a court appearance set for Oct. 3. Police say the attack appears to be random, as the victims and suspect were not known to each other.
