How to Put On the Armor of God | Devotional by Tony Evans

Putting on The Armor of God is not something we do by simply quoting from Ephesians 6. Each piece of armor represents a spiritual truth that we must put into practice through faith. Dr. Evans gives us the starting point as he discusses the importance of prayer for victory in spiritual warfare.

I wanna thank you for these words, I have been a Christian since I was 17, I'm 56 now, but last 4 years were horrible to me, I lost everything, from my business to my family, to my health, after my wife cheated on me, i fell down and began smoking weed, for 4 years I have been in this hole, but a few weeks ago I said enough is enough and I cleaned up my self in Jesus, I know lots of scriptures, but I am willing to live it, to put it in practice, I needed to hear this, thank you for not judging.

God whoever is reading this, we put on our armor today dear Lord! We pray a covering of protection around us and our loved ones on today dear Lord. Give us Your strength for our feet and Your peace for our minds! In Jesus’ name we pray amen 🙏🏽

I hesitate to share anything this personal, but feel prompted to write this just in case there is one other person who fights this battle. At times unwanted thoughts pop into my head at night when I lay down to sleep. I try to bring my mind under subjection, rebuking evil spirits, singing songs and quoting scripture. Last night I thought I need a metal cap on my head to block these thoughts from entering my brain. Then it hit me. The helmet of salvation. I put it on and that was the end of that fight. I was able to go to sleep in peace. The armor of God is a real thing. I can withstand all the fiery darts of the enemy simply by putting it on and keeping it on.
Isaiah 59:17 For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.
Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
1 Thessalonians 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

How to put on the armor of God

Belt of truth
Declaring in prayer to God that you believe what he says
Belt of righteousness
Acting based on what God has said and declaring to God “I want to please you in this manner”
Shoes of the gospel of peace
You say, “God, confirm this situation in my life by giving me peace or causing so much discomfort that I know I shouldn’t move forward”
Shield of faith
Acting like God is telling the truth and asking God to support you in your actions particularly in those steps that are difficult to take
Helmet of salvation
Ask God to clear your mind of anything that would distract you from operating with his perspective in your thinking
The word of God
Quoting his scripture/ reading the Bible, ask God to show you the right scriptures to use
Bring prayer in and you’re dressed for success because prayer is God’s means of communicating from Heaven to earth

🤣🤣🤣 I'm telling you people. This so so funny...Every time, when I don't know how to explain my emotions, Jesus comes in and saves the day. I've been so stressing, and this is exactly what I needed.
