When I was going through a really bad time in my life, I consciously adopted George's "do the opposite" technique for a while, not about everything but some choices. If I wanted to stay in, I went out, etc. It was actually very helpful in getting me out of rut and onto a better path.

Therapize Frasier please. It has TWO psychiatrists, marriage and dating stories, divorce, parent/child conflict, co-parenting….
Jonathan has been leaving a gold mine untapped with that one.

How about reacting to Gilmore Girls? There is an awful lot of parenting going on in that sit com. And a lot of other relations too. Not to mention Tylor, and his maner of interacting with the world, who could be a character study in itself

How about Everybody Loves Raymond? I used to love the sitcom as a kid but as an adult it strikes me as truly needing a therapist in most situations.

Yes, I can't wait to see George get analysed. He has a definite lack of empathy, such as when he showed no remorse over Susan dying because of the cheap envelopes he picked out.

this concept in DBT is called opposite action. it's where you do the opposite of what you would normally do. for example, people with depression who would normally push people away, they invite someone in. it can be very powerful depending on the person

I'd love to see the relationship between Sophia and Dorothy on The Golden Girls therapized. Talk about a mother-daughter dynamic!

Idk why I just got this image of you in a theater yelling at someone and someone being like "holy shit is that the therapist reacts guy?" And it made me giggle 🤣

I would absolutely love to here you talk about Steven Universe. I feel like there is so much in that should to unpack but I think the most important theme that is carried out through the series is the struggles of taking on a family legacy. We see Steven suffer both negative and positive consequences because he has taken his mother's place and the sad part is he never had a choice. I would also love for you to break down some of the more complex feeling that are happening in Steven Universe Future. The show was pretty much made to show the results of the constant trauma Steven had to endure.

My cousin had a similar experience when he met and went on a date with one if my friends. He decided to start being honest on first dates so that if the girl didn't like him, neither of them had to waste their time. He comes to the date, introduces himself, and says "I have a few things I need to get out of the way before we continue this date. I'm autistic, a kleptomaniac, and a pathological liar. I'm currently getting help to deal with all 3 of these things. I know that's a lot to dump on a person, but I don't want to lie to you. If you feel like you can handle that, cool. If you feel like you can't, then feel free to walk out. I won't hold it against you." They just got married a couple weeks ago so I guess honesty is the best policy.

I've had a hard time with being passive aggressive and doing the opposite has really helped me
I tried letting some stuff that made me mad or annoyed in the moment go, thinking "this is bothering me now, if it really matters it'll bother me again let's wait and see" and I realized that after I calmed down it was either really easy to realized it wasn't a big deal or I would be calm enough to talk about whatever it was in a more productive manner

I have such wildly ambivalent feelings about Seinfeld.

I grew up watching it, as an older 90's kid (born in 81), so, old enough to appreciate most of the jokes, and I loved it then. So there's definitely nostalgia there for me.

But then also some of it is just...kinda mean? Like, I'm all for complex characters who are human and flawed, but like...some of them act like such terrible people sometimes 😂 Like, omg, the whole George/Susan thing, start to finish. Horrible lol Yes, it did make me laugh at times, but it also makes me feel...icky.

Then again, the observational humor, pins, and almost childlike jokes are top-notch for me. Like the joke about salmon being the opposite of tuna, not chicken.

As Homer Simpson once wisely said, "It's funny cuz it's true!" 😆

My goofy Autistic* brain really appreciates that kind of humor

* I am actually diagnosed Autistic. I'm not using it as a "cute" self-deprecation. Sometimes people on the internet think that's what I mean when I refer to myself being Autistic. It's none of their business really, but this IS the internet and I dislike drama so I feel like I have to have a disclaimer all the time. C'est la vie! 🤷‍♀️😂

Oh, I love Seinfeld and I know which episode of Fresh Prince you're talking about. Can't wait to see it! Also, I don't know if you've done The Golden Girls, but you should do that one, too, and possibly Rosanne.

lol i remember dating got a lot easier when i started to not care that much. Care as in worrying about a date or something not working out. It made me more laid back and thus come off more confident.

I really really want you to therapize the first episode of American Horror Stories. It is titled "Rubber (wo)Man: Part 1."
There is nothing particularly gruesome in that first episode until the very end, and it was such an interesting family.
I really want to know your opinion on the way the parents handle their concerns with their daughter, and how she should have responded to the events at the end of the episode.
There is even a family therapy session with some trauma discussed in the episode for you to analyze. That's like it was filmed just so Jonathan Decker can give us his analysis of it!
Thank you for all your videos.

Oh… I love George.. So great you used him to make some fantastic points. While I feel Seinfeld was just about the tops, have you done Cheers yet?
