Union External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on October 01 made a candid remark on one of India’s neighbouring countries Pakistan and said that our neighbour is an expert in ‘International terrorists’. “We have a neighbour, like we're expert in IT (information technology) they're expert in 'international terrorists'. It's going on for years. But we could explain to the world that terrorism is terrorism, today it's being done against us, tomorrow it will be against you,” the Union Minister said. “Now the world’s understanding of terrorism has increased as compared to earlier times. The world isn’t tolerating it. Countries using terrorism are under pressure and are further reluctant,” he added.

This is absolutely true. Even since before 9/11 India used to continuously raise the issue of terrorism at UN and explain to the developed nations that terrorism is a global issue not related to any region or politics, requiring immediate attention. But we were never taken seriously as they used to think that terrorism happens only in Middle East and South Asia. This was the main reason that 9/11 was such a shock to the west and only then did they realise the threat of terrorism to the world.
