Today I collected eggs from my 80+ chickens!

I wanted to see how many eggs I would get from my 80+ chickens. But 42 of those chickens don't lay eggs because they are not old enough, so I only ended up getting 9 eggs. At least I got some.

A lot of people don’t understand that some chickens aren’t bred to lay eggs everyday. Some chickens are considered “ornamental” and only lay every now and then. If the chicken is a standard breed it will most likely lay every day. I have some that lay every day and some that don’t lay at all. It’s just about the breed.

I have 15 chikens and i get about 13-14 eggs a day

My mom said she could get chickens to lay in the winter (we have brutal winters) by feeding them sprouts and hot mash. Keep them babies warm and thinking spring.😊

My mother once had 6 little hens. A few gave an egg every day. One or two gave 2 eggs a day occasionally. It’s all in their genes, and what you feed them. They were small eggs, but so fresh.

During the last cold snap we had where the weather was -30, I only had 2 chickens out of 12 laying eggs. They are only just now starting to recover from that rough weather where half are laying again.
These girls will pick up their production shortly as spring approaches. Winter is rough on the poor gals.

Been getting about 8 to 10 from 10 Wyandottes a day unless its below freezing then its only 4 or 5 . Absolutely love those delicious eggs every day as I can't stand store bought eggs
