I agree with the wisdom too, if this is how China treats their territory, best not to have any part of it. Excellent question by the reporter asking what Taiwan wants to see from U.S. Policy. Many Taiwanese are living life as normal since when had Beijing not want to ATE Taiwan up :3
It would be ideal if they can do it without military force since the global backlash will be immense + the high risk of failure + cost.
One of the goal of Beijing is to cause the Taiwanese civilian to panic (something it managed to do 2 decades ago during the military crisis when Taiwan elected its first president when the military dictatorship ended)
