My friend got a deal on this engine for $2000, then instantly damaged the engine by FOD.

Bendix on the starter didn’t retract. Starter was spinning way too fast because of this, and caused the failure.

Was getting a lot of heat there in that one spot. Also noticed the jet flame was off to one angle and looks like the overheat at the base of that flame angle

The case let go from a high speed vibration. Most likely a misalignment or bad bearing.

The starter failure it disappointing I feel for your loss. It always hurts when you fire up a new engine and something lets go. It's even worse when you built it yourself and realized that you screwed up and got something wrong and didn't catch it until it was to late. But thankfully you're not out 30k+ for a mistake of your own doing. I still regretting the last one I had that let go. But we live and learn from our failures and hopefully don't repeat them. Hope you get it resolved and back running soon I'd like to see what you intend to use it on.

That is also a hot start. Probably melted the fins off on the inside of the jet… you don’t want to see flames coming out the back like that.

That’s was like an easy 2-5k man that stung.

Oil didnt reach where it should go, so it overheat and the plastic coat broke/melt wich got somwhere molten inside.

Looks like the turbine expanded into the nacelle. Possibly starter linkage or thrust bearing 😬

WarpedYT to manufacturers: Yes I recently bought a jet engine from you, and when I started it the starter failed destroying a turbo fan. So it’s still under warranty and need a replacement.
Customer service: Unfortunately your warranty doesn’t cover damage caused by a starter failure

Bearings I am guessing. 25 hours time on the GSU and you will have to send it to Jetcat for bearing replacements plus check on the shaft, turbine and compressor.

Why did a part of the motor sucked in the compressor

Non that I know anything about jet engines but, it’s probably better to stick to known brands…like GE or Rolls Royce! 😂❤️
