The Complete Transformers Timeline...So Far

The Transformers Film Franchise has been… well, it’s just been. Beginning in 2007, it’s spanned across 8 different films and has been built upon it’s own popularity with each succeeding movie. In it’s first live-action adaptation, it proved that yes, an old cartoon designed to sell toys COULD be turned into a cinematic blockbuster designed to sell toys. That being said, as we entered the era after Dark of the Moon, the timeline became… complicated, with continuity errors and plotholes opening up everywhere. And I’m not talking small ones, I’m talking rather large ones. With this many plotholes, one wonders how the timeline even works anymore. Well, as a Transformers Enthusiast myself, I’ve wracked my brain about it, and have come up with my own theory. The Transformers film franchise has more than one timeline. At least until they clarify that it doesn’t. So for now, let’s assume that there’s two timelines and work up from there. Buckle up, true believers, I’m going to explain ALL of Transformers Lore to you… TWICE! And add it all with a nice little time stamp too!

A fan group on this site called TFI Creations did a lot of stop motion movies. Some of them were based on the Bayverse films. There’s one that explores the origins of Cybertron, along the Dynasty, & how the Fallen betrayed them. A followed up that shows how a young Optimus met a young Megatron, how Cybertron got a Sun for the planet’s life, & how Megatron made contact with the Fallen. There’s even a prequel for Age of Extinction that shows how Optimus got his arm fixed after Chicago, how he was ambushed by Lockdown, & how Bumblebee was forced to leave Sam. Another one of The Last Knight, that shows how Galvatron made contact with Quintessa, how he was turned back into Megatron, & what Barricade was doing after Chicago. What’s even great is that the group made a sequel for The Last Knight. It shows how Unicron became one with the Earth, what happened to the Quintessons, why Quintessa was a problem to Unicron, where did the Allspark came from, & what happened to Sam.

after watching transformers one, if they said it was a legitimate reboot / lore accurate, i wouldnt mind it at all, it was done perfectly and made sense. i wasnt even going to watch it tonight but i decided to give it a watch, and it made me laugh so many times and it appears there will be a sequel to this movie. the only thing i wish they did was made it how the previous movie graphics were. the cartoon design wasnt bad, as i can see they are trying to capture the young audience to make a future sale off them too, it woulda been even more badass if they used the same graphical design as the previous movies.

Transformers One was directed by Josh Cooley
Bumblebee was directed by Travis Knight
Michael Bay produced them despite leaving the director's chair after The Last Knight

Yeah, my headcanon is that Transformers One takes place in the Knightverse because it's probably not getting a sequel, so this way it can at least have some form of continuation through the Knightverse.

Hey bro, thanks for this. It really helps clear up a lot of those inconsistencies between the multiple directors and the directions that they wanted to take the movies. I'm not going to lie, I got confused after the last knight when they really went off the deep end and just screwed things up completely, probably worse than the changes they made in the first four... I'm glad that I knew before I watched them that the later movies are in a different timeline.

On a different note, tf2 will always be my favorite of the live action movies. Just something about Optimus being different after coming back, and to know that he's not messing around after he got triple teamed and killed. No, the Fallen cannot live anymore, So he must be destroyed, and you can't bring him back if he doesn't have a spark right? 😂😂 There was a guy on YouTube who did a video analysis on this and he put it in our perspective-- that if we saw a human rip off another human's face and then punch and crush their heart, especially someone that we loved and obeyed, that would be very very traumatizing. Of course Megatron didn't want to keep too much beef going between him and Prime, cause he knew that he could have ended up like the Fallen. At least Megatron's deaths weren't permanent at least 😂😂
