I feel like what gets massively overlooked is Jason died chasing knowledge of who his mother was and his mom hands him to the joker but he saves his mom as his last act alive I really want to see that relationship between him and that mother betrayal wound he has

Jason; always loses because authors don’t want to present his sense of morality as victorious.

I wish they’d write Jason better he has just as much writing potential as nightwing, while dick represents what Batman should be Jason is what Batman could be the yin and yang contrast with each other, he shouldn’t ghost the bat family and hate Bruce

I think Red Hood should be used as a method of questioning how far Batman is willing to stick to his code over saving lives. When does a villain kill so many people that it becomes less about saving people, and instead more about sticking to a morality that has failed the innocents Batman was created to protect?

Joker will go on to kill countless people, all for the fun of it, while Batman will simply beat him up and lock him away again. There has to be a point where he recognises that the justice system has failed completely, and he needs to end Joker himself. If he doesn't, he's no longer a hero, and instead a man playing at one, following a certain code to make himself feel good.

Even though he kills criminals, Jason knows when to stop unlike Bruce, and tries to be that symbol of hope to some criminal

So unpopular opinion but Jason Todd is actually my favorite Robin out of all the Batman Sidekicks and Robins. I still believe out of the four Grayson and Drake deserve to be called Robins in contrast to him though I still enjoyed Jason as a character. In my eyes I enjoyed Jason Todd because he represents how complicated sidekicks are or in this case become. He was a bratty kid that didn't know any better and as a result he payed the price and became a determined yet traumatized man. Unlike Nightwing, Red Hood chosed his identity out of spite rather than self discovery. We all know every Batman fan disliked Jason taking the Robin mantle and despised him being a rowdy kid. So DC hosting a contest of either letting Jason live or die was the most ridiculous yet best decision they made.

This meta decision recontexualizes Jason as a Robin who lost his place then returning as a vengeful and lone vigilante. Him using Joker's former identity showed how he was willing to use his culprit's persona as his new superhero alias. Under The Red Hood is one of my favorite Batman Media out there because the movie showed the tragedy of Jason. Jason's motives are understandable considering he doesn't want anybody to suffer the same tragedy from The Joker. He disliked Batman's methods of having the Joker scot free but Batman knows if he succumbs to pure violence it is a sad tragedy. That's when I feel pity for both of them. I cannot blame Jason on the Joker because he believes the Joker will continue his rampage again. But Bruce doesn't want to let go of his optimism of helping the rogues and not let violence and tragedy define him like Jason did. The ending where a young Jason states that being a Robin was the best thing he ever had made me cry knowing the end result.

Though I do enjoy Jason hanging out with the Batman team and respecting his mentor once more. I also enjoyed that unlike the Robins out of the four he is willing to do things his way. He is also someone who does have the sheer will power to do things his way and I respect that. I meam sure he's violent but he's not as brutal or insane in contrast to Marvel's The Punisher. He has morals and I respect him for sticking to his guns even though I disagree with his execution. Another thing is well he is the most ambitious and determined of his goals so we gotta give him credit for that. He may not be liked and I can understand people think he's edgy or too angsty I mean seriously in the Nightwing video somebody called Jason Mid Hood when I requested him. But I love Red Hood because he is a failure of a Robin yet a success at being a better person and a better man.

Batman: your ruling through intimidation and murder, your becoming a crime lord

Red Hood: Yes, that's what you never understood, you can't stop crime, I'm controlling it, you want to rule them by fear but what do you do with the ones who aren't afraid? I'm doing what you won't, I'm taking them out!

Bruce Wayne: tell me what happened to you, let me help

Jason Todd: it's too late...you had your chance...

This is why when it comes to things like this I love Red Hood a lot more than Batman because say what you want about Batman but Red Hood was never an evil person, he was just wronged by the world and when it comes to crime at least he has a zero tolerance policy for crime and at least he gets shit done instead of locking the clown back up in the same facility knowing he's gonna escape again in a week and get out to do the same shit which is kill more people

Jason is the most tragic character in the DC, and it makes us love him that much more. I know a solo movie of Jason would introduce the best DC character to the world

so true. the reason i find red hood so compelling--and my ACTUAL favorite character in the batfam--isn't his rage or his violent approach to justice, but his redemption, his healing journey. a character like jason provides a different kind of hope in contrast to nightwing's, which is the hope that one day you can overcome your past mistakes and be a good person, no matter how badly you messed up in the past.

I think Jason becomes a genuinely good person in new 52 and rebirth. Like the way he is like a big brother to bizzaro

All I’m saying if when written well, he was a fantastic robin! He saved Batman in the cult, and helped save superman in the issue for the man who has everything. His robin was the one that was going through the period change of campy criminals to drug plots and he still cracked jokes while being serious at times.

Jason doesn't blame Batman he is just infuriated by the whole situation, many people blame Batman that Jokker and other criminals get out all the time, but what has Batman to do with that he offers them on a silver plater to authorities who fail over and over again ? Well Jason is the solution to that failiure of society, and I bet meny people in Gotham would be perfectly willing to look other way around if it meant solving the crime problem. On the other hand authorites could change laws and deal more harshly with criminals but choose not to. But it is a fictional setting in real life Jokker would be dealt with by the police especially in the US. But he is needed for the story, and others as well. One of mine favorite stories is the Court of Owls, they do what Batman won't and they are the bad guys because of it. And Batwomans father also crosses that line and becomes exactly like League of Assassins and Ra's al Ghul.

The ending of this video brought me to tears for some reason. I really enjoy these videos on masculinity you make, and serve as inspiration for my own journey as a man.

Thank you for doing God's work.

Just discovered your channel. I find your vids are interesting. After watching your Nightwing video, I am starting to think about this stuff a lot more. I feel like because people view masculinity as the default, we often don’t think about it as much in media. Great vids, keep up the good work!
