Simple Mold, Complex Casting

Multi-pour casting is a great way to make bubble free complex parts.

I picked this Owl toy off the beach. It’s labeled made in China but I don’t know who made it.
Let me know if you can identify it so I can give proper credit to the maker.

I've been watching for 2 years almost and I just went through all your videos and had a marathon again. I don't do any type of molding or resin casting. Not an artist either, I guess it's just a comfort thing. I just find your knowledge and humor fun to watch! You have the personality and knowhow to make it far on this platform.

That project reminds me of a project I had cast in Mexico 20 years ago. The mold was plaster, and the medium cast was a ceramic slip, but the shape reminded me that this would have been a perfect mold to fill with a thin, slow-curing resin, and rotate it to build up the points. Always love your work and enthusiasm...

Bob, nice job. Nice and simple. You might want to add one more knock on the side where the air bubbles were. Best regards, Richard

Really enjoy your videos just wondering if you could do one on the rubber and resins, mold release, etc. you normally use and the pros and cons of that particular brand. There are a gazzilion products offered but as you are aware it can be expense and discouraging if you buy bad product.

Question: Hey Robert! Thank you so much for all of your videos! I've learned so much so quickly about casting. I'm trying to manufacture some smart coins using a data tags and casting them into resin. Do you have any tips on how to suspend the data tag centered in the resin cast? Will I have to make a mold that I can slip the data tag in through mid pour? I'd love any advice as I've never even touched the stuff yet but really want to get this operation under way!

Hey I'm new to the channel but watched almost everything already. Really learned a lot. Can you do a video casting foam resin in a mold? I always have difficulty with the finish of that foam. It always contains some bubbles. Wanna see how you tackle that. Keep up the good work
