I’ve had my Nikon D5300 for 7 years, only now have I had the inspiration to get into photography 😅 this video was very informative and helpful especially to a beginner like me. Thank you so much.

Just wanted to thank you for this. I've had my Nikon for about 6 months and keep on setting it aside to use my GoPro instead for my other channel videos. I've watched this and saved to my playlist for a while, and I think my next videos will be so much better now. You should have seen the mistakes before😅

I've had my Nikon D5300 for 3 years and finally feel like I have some time to devote to learning to take decent pictures. Probably 30 + years ago I was given a Pentax 35 mm but I could never grasp the aperture and shutter speed concepts and always felt like I was just aimlessly snapping pics. I'm hoping these tutorials give me a better understanding of how to get set up for different situations.

Straight to the point, short and sweet. Why aren't all tutorials like this?

My Nikon D5300 has been in my house for almost 8 years I suppose? but only until now I'm old enough to have the nerves to learn how to use it due to my cinematography class. Thank you so much for this video! Brief yet informative!!

I came straight from an old Canon 35mm SLR, and I keep asking, does this really need so many different functions and settings?

Hey Travis, good video! How do you set the AF for your vlogs? Not many of us out there with Nikons.

Hi, which prime lens would you suggest for Nikon D5300? 35mm or 50mm.

I'm stuck in MF in my D5300.

In anymode Auto or Manual.
My focus mode stays at MF and that is not accesable. I can not change it to AF-A or AF-S because i can't even get into the mode. It is disabled along with AF AREA and Metering mode.

What to do now?

I do everything the opposite of what you recommend. Decide ISO (like picking a the film stock asa sensitivity), f-stop, shutter and WB. Also, I thought the histogram was a graphical chart. I always refered to that continuum you showed as the exposure meter. I'm confused now. Also, does this camera have Kelvin adjustment in the WB?

Hey, man. i have just decided to learn how to use my camera after 4 years of ownership and actually using it just a handful of times. couple of questions. how good of a job does auto mode do? also my grid view looks different from yours, and when I adjust aperture, the histogram doesnt move when i adjust the aperture. is this because I am already in a very bright environment? thanks for your help, and youve got yourself a new subscriber!
