The First Manned Rocket Flight Wasn’t in the 1960s

The soviets may been the first to get a human into space in the 1960s, but people have been strapping themselves to and piloting rockets for several hundred years, if not more.

I use the word "piloting" loosely, as much of it it just involves a tube and a tun of gunpowder.

The account of Lagari Hasan was partly true. He didn't glide back down safely. When the powered flight ended he dropped back down to the Bosphorus, broke several bones and was rescued. His brother, Hazarfen Ahmet glided from Galata tower to the other side of the sea using and improving upon Da Vinci's designs for a glider.

Hi Dylan! A grand video indeed, although I'd have to say that most of those "safe landing" rocket tales were probably hocum. I do have a video idea for you but it might be kind of short notice. In honor of Columbus day on Monday, could you do a piece on who actually discovered America (and maybe note a thing or two about the horrific things Columbus really did while in America).
