I am very poor in math so whenever you said "let's do some more math", it always sends a chill in my it is not about you but me, as I am always afraid of the subject.

Ok when you have a limit, say lim_{x -> a} f(x) the first thing I try to do is "plug in" for "a" for "x."

This will work if your function is continuous.

If this make a denominator zero, then you need to check the respective numerator to see if it is zero too. If both the numerator and/or denominator are zero, then you *should* be able to do some algebraic manipulation (or an argument with the Squeeze Thm) to compute the limit.

Regardless, you can always check your answer with a plot.

Hey Bart,
I have doubt.... for the second last example at the last step when we do square root of 9, wouldn't it have two probable answers ie (-3) and 3 which would then give me two answers ie 6 and 0?

Hey Bart, where in real life do we use this limits calculations?

Hi Bart how you going? A question please? You don´t mind explain me how I recognise where I should start? I mean how I know if I have to do something in the nominator or on the denominator in order to dissapear (simplifier) the indefinition. Please excuse by my english I am not native.

iam not getting when to multiply with conjugate in first example there was also x-1 denominator and we didnt take the conjugate?

hey Bart, why do you always arrange the limits so they cancel out
why don't you calculate lim (x+8)^1/2 - 4/ x-1
where do you find in nature such convenience
