In Kratos' words: "Don't be sorry, be better."

As someone who doesn’t use Reddit I cannot wait for this change

It's just amazing they decided to keep that mod after what happened. It's not like they are just 1 person short are they? If so, then recruit ONE MORE PERSON in the new wave of recruitment.

They're 100% trying to use that "overworked mods" line as an excuse to try to get a little sympathy. Except it isn't one, being frustrated doesn't excuse you of accusing someone of exploiting their girlfriend's death.

I forget what YouTube drama it was in relation to, but I remember a YouTuber saying "there's a difference between a mistake and a reveal of character". I believe that people can change and that forgiveness is great, but a blunder this big can only be dealt with by fully removing them from their position. A 4 week suspension simply is not enough.

r/Minecraft mods shaking in their boots from Phoenix's savagery.

when he scrolled through the replies at the end, you can see so many people saying that 4 weeks isn't enough. and frankly, i agree. kick them off the team entirely. they need to have zero tolerance for that kind of behavior

The "The person who said it has been suspended for 4 weeks" feels more like "we're sorry we got caught" rather than a proper punishment.

as someone living in australia watching this as it comes out, i just want to give props to phoenix for uploading at 12:30 AM. this video would take no time to upload, so it hasn't even been left on overnight. just good job, man. our timezone is really annoying when it comes to stuff like this.

As an ex-mod i can say - when moderation is not a job, it's a voluntary work, 4 weeks suspension is not a punishment, it's a vacation.
Guy literally is free from cleaning out shit out of subreddit and answering mod mail for a month, is that really a punishment?
And if they mod because they like it in itself or like sense of power, well, they are not losing anything.

If there’s something I would like to see, it’s an appeal system, so that such bans reach other mods and can be overturned

I feel very very happy you cover this topic. You're a hero phoenix

I'm not on Reddit but I play Minecraft. It's a tight knit community and when someone passes away the loss is felt by all. A 4 week suspension just feels like Christmas vacation to me. JMTC

I just want to remind you all - Moderating a web forum is work.

They got 4 weeks suspension AS A MODERATOR - they can still use Reddit in any way that isn’t the WORK of moderating a media page.

This is a vacation, not a punishment.

This isn't a matter of enforcing bad rules, it's a matter of that person having no empathy and presuming guilt.

I hope the change is good change. The Minecraft Reddit has had some major issues for awhile now but what happened to freeoni really took the cake for what can only be described as a Major problem on the moderators side.
*Do Better* never meant more then it does now.

That mod who marked him as karma farming is the type of person you would never ever wish to be your worst enemy.

He should have had his mod privileges stripped from him completely, if he said it once, he's said it before, the complete lack of humanity isn't something that just happened because you've had a bad day, this time he just did it to the wrong person. Just imagine if Brendan was a different person, the love of your life just died and you're desperately trying to make something from her dead to give your life meaning while you feel like the world is falling apart, and you get that message, I can only imagine how many people just that alone would be enough for them to just end it

I kinda understand why the guy "milking karma" the mod said that

Since there's so many people who milk someone's death just to be popular it's actually quite common in every website's so i kinda understand the mod saying that
