The general silhouette and long spindly legs reaching up into dark clouds reminds me a bit of the infamous "dead man walking" photo taken of the nightmarish 1997 F5 tornado in Jarrell, Texas, especially since the entity itself is usually pictured near or even right next to active storms or tornados.

My idea is that the wandering faith appears to take the worthy people who would die in those bad events that happen. Sparing them the pain so to say, and those who aren't. Well they can suffer their gruesome fate
