Amazing that the American born timpanist has adapted to the German configuration of his timpani drums.

If the best Mahler symphony is, as the saying goes, "the one that the listener has most recently heard, " then the seventh is always the one I've most recently heard. Or at least I could say this: there is no greater retransition: there, in that sense, he peaked with seven.

It's so funny that conductors tend to rule in pairs, in opposite polarities: when Mahler 7 was written, you had Strauss and Mahler, and now you have Roth and Currentzis. (Also -- it's so touching to me that when I was a child, the organ I heard at church on Sunday mornings was played by FXR's dad)

Such an amazing interpretation with well-handeled IMO as an audience the overall Tempo of 2rd and 3th movement was just likely to be faster than usual(e.g. in Recordings of some CDs)

Euphonium players be like: Mahler 7? Yeah, I've heard it many times. About 30 seconds long, right?

Nachtmusik II is way too fast, so 48:01 and others were predictable disasters

Even NachtMusik 2 is way too fast, no more serenade just a race to the finale

No es la mejor sinfonía de Mahler, pero está bien defendida y planteada.

Amazing! The camera man finally found a kettle drum. 😮 Wondering about he may eventually find the rest of the orchestra. 😉His constant panning and zooming makes me seasick. 🤢A Mahler performance deserves better. 🤔

Yes he knows the score and they play the notes, but where is the music, the engagement? Where is the mystery, the visions, the humour, the irony? He shows no smile nor an expression anywhere, just conducts the score. This was probably the least exiting Mahler 7th I have heard.
