Let's Play Eidolon - 07 - I Can't Read Cursive Writing!

Wikipedia: "In ancient Greek literature, an EIDOLON is a spirit-image of a living or dead person; a shade or phantom look-alike of the human form." I think this might explain something... but for now, we're playing Eidolon, a minimalist survival exploration game. It's in the same genre of "relax em-up" atmospheric games like Proteus, Mountain, or even Minecraft (the way I play it).

Well, Kurt, let's recap what you know so far in loose chronological order:

- In 2031 there was a big earthquake in the Pacific NW area of the States. Apparently there was either/both ground liquefaction and subsidience ( sunk houses and the not exactly vertical state of the power line poles )

- There was recontruction after that and even some prospering up to the 2nd decade of the 22nd century ( when "The Fall" happened, whatever that means ).

-In between some kind of superhuman creatures, the sennin, appeared in public ( not enough intel so far to say if they only came to existance after the 2031 quake, but if they did, the game time is surely after 2330 :P ). They apparently can live for a long time ( the 300 years that Treyia says she has ), are stronger and more resilient than regular humans ( the romance pages you picked this episode ) but can reproduce with "Normals" ( same document ), so they must be some kind of modified human.

- At the same time truLight and the beacons appeared. In fact they seem to be somewhat related with the sennin, but not enough intel so far. Anyway the beacons ( that I assume produce the truLight ... that or truLight is some kind of drug .Not sure of either ) can heal diseases ( and maybe prolong life? ) but apparently require continual exposal to them under the penalty of serious withdrawal issues ( up to death, like Moncada obituary and your LUX tablet point out )

-In the 2071 elections article, besides the talk about exporting beacons, there was talk about people that were not happy with that state of affairs . Also, the city you found this episode was partially walled, so there was something that the city wanted to keep in/out .Maybe that is related with the below item.

- Then, "The Fall" happened in 2112. Not sure of what happened so far, but apparently there was some kind of phenomenon that made the cities of the West coat of the USA to "go dark" one after the other. Given than there was reconstruction after the 2031 earthquake, the abandoned cars and the NOT-milkjugs with leg bones nearby ( :D ) must be from that time ... and it doesn't seem like it was another earthquake ( the buildings you found in this episode are mostly upright, unlike the power lines poles ). Added to that, the fact that your LUX doesn't pick any beacon signal probably points that the beacons were destroyed between the "The Fall" and current time, if not in the The Fall proper. Anyway, given the state of the buildings, I would say that atleast 50 years passed in between  The Fall and now, if not more

-Somewhere in between the Fall and now ( maybe even now ), Treiya, her even older brother and the wild girl appeared in the area. Really little intel there.

BTW, as you probably have deduced so far, the city you are in is most surely Olympia. It looks like a big place and surely you can pick more clues there, so probably you want to comb the city clean before you move elsewhere. Also, Olympia is a actual RL place a little to the south of Seattle and from what I can deduce from Google Maps, the topography of the area seems remarkably similar to what the game shows if you assume that the area sank a couple of meters ... so maybe you could use RL maps to guide you instead of the game one(s ? ) that so far looks quite limited compared with the actual game area ;)

Also, Kurt, what kind of robot is powered by cooked meat and fish, berries and mushrooms ? :D

Kurt, just want to say that this is still as relaxing as ever.

Although, I still think you should stick to a plan once you make it. You go in a direction for a bit, and then change you mind.

You said you were going to go west and find out about Beacons! I'm intrigued now, please go West after you get those new Glowies.

Also, click on the "beacons" again, so the Glowy can go out and show you the direction. Try following it until you get to something.

I do believe you've had the Lux since you began. No you did not start with the Map, you were not born with it. You found it in a Glowy.

I like that you explored the buildings while you were near them, I was worried that you wouldn't. Especially that Town Hall/Church looking one. I was hoping for a door in to it, but it as featureless. There are a lot of things near where you are now. Very interesting!

Kurt, I have a sneaking suspicion that the reason why you're having so many issues is that you not exactly be playing the game right. I mean, every single time you click a subject on a message and the big green glowy pointer orb thing comes out you follow it for all of maybe 10 seconds then go off at random and do something completely different. I have a pretty abysmal attention span and even I wouldn't do that...

So, here's what I think you should do: well first off you should let the game point you towards another map fragment, that would help both you and us know where you are. Then, since you seem to be particularly interested about the beacons (and I am too) you should click on all the options to find the informations about the beacons and then go to the places the game actually points you to instead of trying in vain to shoot foxes and failing to read cursive and mispronouncing "eidolon" :P

I don't normally backseat play games for people when they play them, but this series in particular is so #cringe worthy that I felt basically obliged to do so...

Anyway I hope you see this and I hope it helps you.

I love watching Kurt's series on this game, but honestly he plays so nonsensically I want to scream.

I have just bought this game, at full price, because of you.

It has exploration and story, which  truly enjoy in a game, and I would have bought it eventually anyway, but I bought it now because (and this is NOT a criticism) you're playing it differently than I would. ;)

The differences are one of the big reasons why I watch you. Even in FLoB when you're just talking and come to the same conclusions I do on some subjects, you often seem to get there by a different line of logic than I used to get there.

It's been a while, but if I remember rightly that 'churchy' building is the State Capitol in Olympia. Might be wrong, considering the landscape isn't right, but then none of the landscape is right for any of this, so.

Love the video Kurt <3 but the white church building is probably a government building, since Olympia is washingtons capital it makes sense, it's also by skyscrapers (or what's left of them lol) which means it's near a major city such as Bellevue, Seattle, or Olympia :) looking forward to the amazing videos dude <3 love from Washington (the non apocalyptic version)

Kurt i dont think you are a robot. i think that the beacons are some sort of device that monitors your body systems and keeps everything going on in tip top shape. Since you are in the apocalyptic future, the beacons are broken, meaning that you have to maintain your own body by eating, sleeping, ect
