Trash ass Confederate statue at Texas State Capitol

There is a massive Confederate monument on the grounds of the Texas State Capitol. This is nothing more than a monument to white domestic terrorists and the greatest traitors in American history. This piece of crap needs to be removed! #NativeTexan

The fact that our state governments allow these monuments to remain on public property is a real disgrace. There are three monuments at the Arkansas state Capitol honoring Confederate ideology. What's even worse is the legislation being churned out of this building that's intended to take us back to Jim Crow days.

I agree, I was born in this state, my great grandfather was a share cropper after being emancipated. I find it strange that many of my family are buried here, and some never left. It wasn't because of love for the state, it was because this was all they knew. I'm not proud of many of the things done in this state, but I am really very angry that some man, and I use that term lightly, felt that he had the right to tell me what I could do with my body as if I'm a slave. I have been angry with this state for many things, but am overwhelmingly angered by the audacity of these new laws and policies that they, men put into play. My body was given to me by God, and the last I looked none of these men are He. These people are embarrassing and they will pay dearly for the wrongs done in the past and for the wrongs they're perpetuating now.

I am sitting at a bench near the monument right now. I wanted to see what there was online about this. This video came up. True. The irony is that the people who support these statues say that we shouldn’t erase history. But the statues don’t tell the real history. They lie to the people who read what’s on the statue. “States rights, constitutional rights, ” my ass. I know history. If you read the official secession statement of the state of Texas, it repeats several times that they are seceding to preserve white supremacy, and to keep blacks enslaved, because, according to them, that is the right and natural state of the two races. It couldn’t be clearer. And yet this statue monument lies. It also lies about how many more men the Union army had over the Confederate army. So, if we really care about history, we should tear down the statues. There are so many people right now standing around the statue with amazed, looks on their faces that this is still there.
