Previously thought to be lost to time: this album contains the original session reels for It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. What you will hear on most tracks of this new and improved “best” version of the soundtrack are the musical cues as recorded by Vince and crew before they were edited for the television special, in show order, as well as a selection of alternate takes.

There are two vinyl options available. The black vinyl version comes in a standard jacket and has been mastered at 45 RPM for optimum sound by Kevin Gray. A pumpkin-shaped version is also available in a clear plastic jacket at 33 1/3 rpm. Both LP versions as well as the CD format include seven unreleased alternate takes and new expanded liner notes. The album is also available for download and streaming.

This song evokes a mood of the last hours of Halloween Night. The jack-o-lanterns have faded, everyone's inside, it's basically all over but the requisite candy tasting. Or maybe catching that one Halloween special on TV that you were hoping to get home in time to watch.

I love this music, and this special. Especially, when it first premiered. I was 6 years old, and I was really into World War One airplanes. This cartoon fuled my imagination, my love of Halloween, and introduced me to jazz...especially, Vince Guaraldi .
Here... we see the World War One flying ace, imagining that he's downed behind enemy lines...trying to make his way through the French countryside, and back to his side of the lines.

My most favorite piece of music in this whole cartoon!! Reminds me of going “tic tacking” at night with my friends during Halloween 🎃 season!!! The part of this cartoon and Snoopy going through the field is so like us back in the day!!!
