The last survivor, Werner Doehner, died 4 years ago. He was 8 at the time of the accident.

the bigger reason towards the hindenburg disaster was that it was one of the earliest accidents caught on camera, and a front page picture in every newspaper at the time with a huge airship engulfed in flames as it falls through the sky, made it almost impossible for it to succeed thereafter

This disaster took place on 6th May 1937, It was just like the Titanic but on land and with fire rather than freezing cold water

What was not mentioned was that the Hindenburg wasn't supposed to be filled with hydrogen. It should have been helium, and that's why it was huge, but they wanted more lift from it.

The problem with that is there were no safety mechanisms for the gas igniting, because helium doesn't burn like hydrogen does.

Another thing - this shouldn't have ended airships. The Titanic was a much larger disaster, yet luxury cruises have only gotten more popular, not less. It is just because it was the first disaster to be televised.

For those who don't know how it happened: normally airships are filled with helium, but they ran out of helium, so they used hydrogen gas instead, which is very flammable, and when it landed, a spark of an electrical wire ignited the ship.

Edit: they didn't ran out as I said, but since the airship was made in Germany and the US was the only country with helium, they wouldn't sell it to Germany so they thought hydrogen would work as it's lighter.
Edit: wow 500 likes thanks

For those who don’t know the reason that caused the explosion was a passenger touched a metal bar on the ship and it ignited a spark which caused the explosion

Any accident involving a flammable gas is fatal. There was an gas accident in the neighbourhood and no one survived in that house😢. It's almost impossible to escape once the gas is ignited. Everything in the room is engulfed by fire. When you breathe, you breathe in fire😢. It was tragic.

A common misconception people have about fire accidents is that people die of burns only. Most people in fire accidents inhale smoke, toxic fumes and suffocate to death long before they come into contact with fire.

Its so crazy that in a matter of seconds your life can just end in a click of a finger. This is a prime example of it

“The name "Led Zeppelin" came from a humorous conversation about the band's chances of success. The story goes that Keith Moon of The Who told Jimmy Page that a supergroup with Page and Jeff Beck would "go down like a lead balloon". This idiom refers to something that is unpopular or unsuccessful. Page remembered the joke and used the phrase for his band's name” (and the Hindenburg as their first album cover)

Bro will censor the symbols on a pre WW2 era airship, but has never once censored a human getting their brains blown out 😭😂

Fortunately because the airship was about to land in America many of the people who jumped out the window survived the incident which thankfully meant that more people survived than died.

For those who are concerned, air ships are now safer as we now use gases that don’t ignite /or react like helium . At that time helium was not well known, so they used an explosive reactive gas, which was hydrogen .
