There have been coming of age films about teenage guys exploring their sexuality and then a movie about a teenage girl exploring her body and sexuality and people start to freak out? For anyone who grew up in the 1970's, this film brilliantly captures the whole feel of that decade. Watching it, I felt like I was a kid all over again. Kudos to the director and the production designer for an outstanding re-creation of that era.

Brilliant movie. All of the performances are spot on, with Kristen Wiig proving once again she is no one trick pony. The emotionally confusing sexual maturation process for us humans is a big topic that is difficult to exhaustively explore in one film. Watching this movie leaves no doubt that the entire cast from actors, to writers, directors and producers understand this. The film explores a specific instance of the universal biological and social difficulty of transitioning into adulthood. The idiosyncrasies and special circumstances of the characters are well defined and constantly re-enforced. Thus, it invites viewers to think about the role environment plays in growing up.

This movie was so hazy. I remember the plot and the story, but it was such a trip. I remember finishing this movie and having the same feelings that I had watching films like Eyes Wide Shut, The Big Lebowski, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and A Clockwork Orange. Just movies that go in a circle. Maybe even a straight line. Not much changes with the characters or the ones around them.

It's been like 2 years (maybe 3) since I watched this movie and it's still so fresh in my mind. It was amazing. Dark, funny, tragic and empowering all at the same time. A truly timeless piece in my opinion.

I watched this last night and OMG it was so much better than I was expecting. Fantastic acting and with the subject matter plus it being a 15 year old girl and not a boy, I think the sex scenes were done quite tastefully. Love the music. The 70's were well captured in this movie and I also felt a little sad for Monroe at the end. I ended up buying the DVD.

I LOVE how they made this trailer. I’m reading the novel again and it’s just so good and compelling. The trailer highlights the uplifting moments and emotion you’ll experience without exposing the actual storyline. Fabulous work.
